Damage from wide-spread flooding in China may have cost hundreds of millions of dollars. Hubei province, which was badly affected by the coronavirus outbreak, has seen some of the worst flooding around the Yangtze.
The Yangtze River region saw its second-highest day of rainfall in over 50 years, authorities said Monday as deadly flooding affected much of China.
Some 28,000 homes have been damaged and 141 people have died or are missing since the floods began last month.
Most of mainland China is affected, including vast swathes of western areas like Tibet and Xinjiang.

Here's a few YouTube links to videos. One shows a railroad bridge collapsed into the river near Wuhan with some horrible images. For those who are not familiar, Wuhan is SEVEN TIMES the size of New York City in population!
Maybe FINALLY the Chinese people will riot and overturn their horrendous CCP. If the Three Gorges Dam fails nearly ONE THIRD of the country's population will be at risk!

Is this flooding above or below The Dam?
“Corona was found in their SEWAGE”
So? Lots of bugs are found is sewage, ones that WILL kill you.
Well, it might be both. But if concerns were expressed about the dam bursting, and they were, then it would have to be above.
I don't see the 3 Gorges dam surviving this 45 onslaught of rain.
Everything I’ve read leads me to say below. But even sources inside the country are indicating it could be both.
This is old news. The dam is still holding...so far.
I am not that old and can still remember, pre internet, newspaper headlines with 100,000s of dead in China for various reasons.
To include floods.
You know how our media works. CNN’s president even admitted that the formula he wants is “Anti-Trump, all the time.” If a news story can’t be pinned on the president, they’re not interested in it.
And like Paladin2, I want to know which side of the dam the flooding is on.
The videos and this story are WITHIN the LAST 24 hours. Yeesh.
This is Xi losing the Mandate of Heaven. He may need to invade Taiwan to survive.
Well, it would seem to be good dam design to have engineered outflow capability above any expected inflows.
Reservoir height management to be well modeled can help.
Thanks.
I thought the dam was supposed to prevent this.
I love a happy ending
I don’t speak Chinese but at 3:02 in the first video someone is saying what sounds like “Wonna wonna wonna wonna wonna wonna wonna” - anyone know what this means?
Last time I checked there was 156 meters out of 175 that the three Gorges can handle.
They’re trying to drain the dam without flooding downstream but the reservoir intake is too much.
The flooding discussed in this article seems to be downstream for the Three Gorges Dam, but I would worry about what’s happening upstream.
I think Wikipedia is trying very hard NOT to talk about this.
They basically indicate that there are rumors that the Three Gorges Dam is at risk, but China says it’s not so, and that’s that.
Wikipedia does have this page, but it’s pretty buried:

One of the major problems with the 3 gorges dam is the amount of silt it backs up and holds behind it every year. The more silt it holds back the shallower the reservoir and less water its containing, the higher and faster the water rises.
That dam is a marvel, but way too many questions about the quality of it have come to light to ever really trust it, especially on a fault zone like it is.
If that thing fails, China as we know it will stop existing the next day. No budget can withstand the repairs downriver caused by that thing catastrophically failing now.
