Generals WIN battle with Donald Trump as 82nd Airborne soldiers are REMOVED from D.C. after chairman of joint chiefs publicly slammed president telling troops to 'uphold the Constitution'
Soldiers with the 82nd Airborne division of the Army were ordered out of Washington, D.C. and back to Fort Bragg, North Carolina on Thursday night
The about 200 active duty troops were kept on standby at bases near the nation's capital and were never called into the city in the midst of riots
The move is a clear reversal after Donald Trump faced backlash for calling in the military to serve as backup should the National Guard need assistance
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley, former Army General John Allen and former Defense Secretary James Mattis all pushed back against Trump
Milley told troops in a Thursday memo to 'uphold the Constitution' 'We all committed our lives to the idea that is America' after he defended protesters' right to assemble,' he added in pen at at the bottom of the letter
Mattis and retired four-star General Allen both bashedTrump in separate op-eds
They specifically called out police clearing Lafayette Park with tear gas and rubber bullets so Trump could visit a church across the street for a photo-op.
'It may well signal the beginning of the end of the American experiment,' Allen said of the church visit where Trump held up his bible for photos .
'Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people - does not even pretend to try,' Mattis wrote

Sounds to me like insubordination. Trump has the Insurrection Act of 1807 as backing. Those generals opposing him need to STFU and resign.

Agreed. I don’t think this happened. They were probably on hot standby in case things really got out of hand, but it seems now that in some cities the riots are simmering down instead of completely out of control as they were last weekend.
I don’t think this happened. Sounds like they were end of mission and just returned to base.

I believe we often automatically associate the higher level of the officer corps as being conservative just because they are military. That may be a mistake on our part. How many veterans, when they enter the political world, go hard Left? Every single one.
I personally knew one kid during my downrange trip - Maryland National Guard, O-2 formerly an E-4 (a 90-day wonder), a PhD in PoliSci and reminded everyone about it, bragged he was angling for a job in the State Department and his ARNG time was simply a resume bullet point. That was 15 years ago now; the little bassturd probably made good on his plans.
And they are/were not "neocons" - they were/are Marxists. Doctor Zhivago, indeed.

Whatever unit that is, it’s not 1st Cav.
That patch is on the right shoulder, not the left. The LEFT shoulder has the patch of the current unit; the RIGHT is the most-recent-deployment unit, the “pain patch”.
It just means that individual troop went downrange as part of 1st Cav some time ago.

Do they think repeating a lie often enough will suddenly make it true? Why not, it works every time it's been tried.

Even my hero Gen. Norman Schwartzkopf had what appears to have been a liberal European boarding school education prior to West Point. At !east he had the sense to stay out of government and politics upon retirement. Also consider that by necessity the military is not a democracy but rather operates under a dictatorial structure based on rank with communal needs of the organization being satisfied by socialistic means. If you are on top of such an organization, it would seem normal to see the world in socialistic terms in civilian life.

It’s inexcusable to forget either 6-4 or 6-6.
Inexcusable for anyone. Including the President.
But on FR - we’re too busy with the circular firing squads on these boards to remember some actual heroes.
Just a reminder about how pathetic FR is becoming, thanks to people like the FEAR Bros. and the Band of Bozos.

Really?
Precisely who has been punished, from 1-20-2017 to the present date, for sedition or treason?
Any big names? Or anyone?

You are skating on very thin ice here.Mathis is loved and adored here. Not so much any more. And now, those of us who have suffered from cognitive dissonance for years because of his involvement with the Tharanos scam have had our trouble hearts put at ease. It wasn't a flaw in a great man. It was a flaw in a flawed deep-stater.
Shame, really.

Is there proof the 82nd was actually there? I was told they were waiting for instructions and still at their base?

Mattis might have been a good general at one time.
Then he decided that he didn’t have to do what his boss told him to do.
Now he’s just another never-Trumper @$$hole.
He really ought to be hanged by his treacherous neck until he’s dead.

There are retired “Bush Generals” publicly undermining the CIC, too. We could only be so lucky this is an obama hold over problem. In reality 30 years of rot in the military is coming home to roost.

We’ve seen this problem time and again in the Age of Trump. Men like Mattis with enormous egos who think “they know better than POTUS” and egged on by The Resistance/Deep State make their own policy. Maybe they should run for POTUS if they want to make policy?

Past presidents have invoked the Insurrection Act 19 times, both with the request of the Governor of the affected state, and
without their request. Note that every one of those 19 previous invocations of the act, were due to violence or disorder in a single city or single state/territory. President Trump invoking the act due to NATION WIDE violence, looting, arson and depravity of civil rights is certainly lawful and warranted.
