‘Throw Massie Out of Republican Party’: Trump Rips GOP Rep. Who Threatened to Delay Coronavirus Bill
National Review ^ | Tobias Hoonhout

President Trump slammed Representative Thomas Massie (R., Ky.) on Friday for saying he would vote against the Senate’s $2-trillion coronavirus relief package, calling him a “third rate Grandstander” who “just wants the publicity” and saying he should be kicked out of the GOP. Trump, who called it “HELL” to work with Democrats, also admitted Republicans “had to give up some stupid things in order to get the ‘big picture’ done.” Trump then added that the Kentucky Republican is “empowering the Radical Left Democrats” and “is a disaster for America, and for the Great State of Kentucky!” According to Politico, Massie reportedly reached out to Trump on Friday morning, but it remains unclear if they connected.

I do not know what Massie is objecting to, but Trump really can be “unhelpful” at times.

I don’t see anything unreasonable about wanting a recorded vote on the biggest spending package in a decade.

Is it even possible to expel someone from a major political party, after he/she makes the rest of the party look bad? I have never heard of it being done. The Democrats did not expel Lyndon LaRouche, for example, after he turned against them.

Massie principled? LOL. He’s a virtue signalling beltway drama queen. Nothing more, nothing less. He pulled this same jack ass stunt over Trump’s border emergency declaration.

I have a problem with him blasting Massie but not the dems who loaded this crap bill up with pork. Massie may be right or he may be wrong. Hard to say until we see what nancy and co been up to in the overnight.

Just because Massie is a tool does not mean he is right this time. Gingrich was spoken of in the same way when he refused to go along with GHW (Read my lips) Bush’s tax increase.

All this does is delay the full house vote...Whether Massie is right or wrong it’s a stupidly selfish move at this time...that he can’t win...Trump is trying to re-inflate the economy ASAP....Bill is far from perfect ...but give Trump what he needs...Look at the big picture....I expected this garbage from AOC..

No, I disagree. If you’re gonna spend $8 TRILLION I want people on record who were for and who were against.

I like Trump, but this is a bit over the top. Massie has been a pretty good conservative rep - we need all the conservatives we can get in Congress.

On the bright side, after Donald Trump leaves office the Republican party will cease to exist. With AOC & Pelosi blowing the Ds up in smoke, the thought of both wings of this globalist bird being broken off is delightful.

Why? Shouldn’t we delay this boondoggle that gives hundreds of millions to refugees and immigrants?

“Trump needs to VETO this bill and demand a new bill with NO BALLOT HARVESTING.”

Actually I agree with that but Massie’s stunt is not going to change anything.

$6 trillion divided by 350 million citizens = $17,000 per citizen
times a family of 4
=$68,000 per family of new national debt and dollar devaluation in this stimulus.
not a good deal

He’s also opposed to conducting business without a quorum.

He’s expressed a third complaint, that the senate skirted the constitutional requirement for House origination, but that complaint is BS because this is not a bill for raising revenue.

God forbid taxpayers should actually get any of their own money back. My neighbors, who are about to lose their restaurant will be thrilled that your sensibilities were not affected.

Has Massie ever been confronted about his past support for "principled constitutional conservative" Justin Amash and "changed his mind" about Amash after the latter showed his true colors and went off the rails to join the Dems "Trump is a traitor and needs to be impeached" tirade?

Amash was his bff in Congress for many years. Inquiring minds want to know.

Massie may even be RIGHT about this bill, but that doesn't excuse his past actions.

This is true...the matter here is really very simple. If Americans did not want this kind of larded up porkulus, then they shouldn’t have elected so many Democrats to Congress. When you elect a majority of Democrats in the House, and put 47 in the Senate you give them power - the voters gave them power. - and there’s not a damned thing on Earth the administration or the Republicans can do about it unless they want to commit mass suicide.

Nothing to do with that. I want Congress on record. That's what they get paid to do.

If the kid at Kroger has to go to work, surely our "betters" in Congress can go to work.

And speaking of our money....have you seen how much of our money is being wasted in this trainwreck piece of legislation??

But if you get a check for $1200 you're happy?? You sold out pretty cheap.

Well, the President isn’t wrong - since this will not ultimately stop the bill from passing, Massie just gave a huge gift to the Democrats - they were very vulnerable to be attacked for delaying the bill by insisting on irrelevant items - now Massie has shielded them from this criticism.
