Barr: Trump's tweets make it 'impossible for me to do my job'

Attorney General William Barr told ABC News in an interview aired Thursday that President Trump had never asked him to do anything in a criminal case but advised the president to stop tweeting about the Justice Department, saying it makes it “impossible for me to do my job.”

The remarks are a significant and rare public break by the attorney general from the president, following days of controversy surrounding the Justice Department’s decision to lessen a sentence for Trump ally Roger Stone after the president tweeted about his displeasure with the gravity of the original sentence recommendation.

“I think it’s time to stop the tweeting about Department of Justice criminal cases,” Barr told ABC in the interview.

How about just picking up the phone and talking to your boss? I am so tired of this crap.

Indeed and bears repeating!

No. His tweets do nothing of the kind. His tweets indicate that the good guys need to get off their asses and make those SOBs who are guilty pay the price.

He needs, we need, to see some progress. We need to see people start scurrying and ratting each other out. This has gone on long enough.

Our Pres. is just trying to encourage the likes of Barr to get on the ball.

It's 'GOTCHA' journalism and Republicans fall into the trap every time.

For most politicians it seems to be a narcissistic compulsion.

Well aren't you a GD twit.

You know, if you stopped the personal comments about people who don't hold the same viewpoint as you on FR, it makes for a better site.

You have some great ideas - making personal attacks on people who don't think like you is unhelpful.

“It is real. Just saw him on TV.”

It makes perfect sense to keep the lines clear and not tweet about active cases.
That’s standard protocol.

Maybe Trump ‘wants’ a special counsel on these cases.

Unfortunately, it may be that It all has to happen in the political theater.

To many in power are stuck with swamp rules because they are swampy.

Barr is right. Trump should let Barr do his job.

Could Barr be putting this out there to make it clear he’s not just doing the president’s bidding?

The four attorneys who resigned from the case to embarrass Barr is a far bigger problem for him than Trump’s tweets. There is a mutiny afoot in DOJ. The Resistance is alive and well.

In view of all that we now know about the mistrial of Roger Stone, Barr should immediately exonerate him.

Perhaps the DOJ is building its case against the Deep State judges and prosecutors and is biding its time.

Then again - the DOJ are the ones responsible for persecuting poor Mr. Stone in the first place.

The longer Bar continues this sh!t show, the more I’m convinced he is as bad as Sessions was.

Nothing will be done. I retract that. Barr and the DOJ will probably retry the poor bastid.

And here comes Barr, right on time, trying to shutdown DJT just as he mounts an offensive. Trust the Plan my rear end.

Perhaps you're correct.

One has to wonder why Barr didn't tell the president this in private, instead of on Fake News ABC?

Barr's comment ironically makes it hard for Trump to do his job.

The President aalways has the power to issue pardons or commutations. Beyond that, he should let his Attorney General do his job.

yep.

While there are political aspects of the AGs job, ensuring justice shouldn’t be obscured by it. Holder and Yates were strong examples of what not to do. Trumps tweets on pending cases obscure here, even if they shine light on many things that need light shone.

Last June, ABC aired an interview President Trump did with George Stephanopodick right around the time Mueller was getting ready to testify before the House. Trump and ABC spent 30 HOURS working on the material for that interview, and Steph-dick got free rides all over the place on Air Force One while they were filming segments of the interview.
