For better or for worse, Mitch McConnell runs the Senate better than any Republican you can name.

Obviously, China Mitch is not running the US Senate. Schumer is.

If the Bidens do testify they’ll plead the fifth.

The media slobbered all over sciff during the house impeachment and the house prosecution. The media has crapped all over the republicans the whole time.

-- Can Trump assert executive privilege and make the senate fight him in court? --

Yes. The WH will do that just to protect the institution of the WH, has nothing to do with Trump.

The longer this drags out the larger Trump’s margin of victory will be in November.

There's something to be said for that. I wouldn't have agreed with you a couple of months ago, but Trump is holding a rally tonight in one of the most effed-up, leftist states in the U.S. (New Jersey) ... and they had 175,000+ ticket requests for a venue that only seats about 7,000 people.

He is reaping what he sowed.

Nope. WE are reaping what have sowed. It wasn’t Trump’s votes that elected these Republicans to the United States Senate. It was us.

Bolton’s testimony could be another turning point.

This looks like it could have been choreographed in advance, with different “explosive” revelations timed to keep the process going and increasing the pressure to eventually oust Trump.

It’s possible McConnell is playing his own role in a carefully scripted plan to oust Trump and install Pence.

That's what the Democrat/Left wants ... not that they'll prevail in the trial, but that it helps the "chosen one" -- Biden -- by keeping Sanders and Warren from campaigning (the Democrat/Left knows they'll be crushed in November if either communist is the nominee).

Then again, calling Groping Joe as a witness will hurt him as he invokes the 5th amendment again and again and again. And if we must violate the Constitution and have witnesses (thanks to the RINOs), let's be sure to call Schiff as a material witness!

I still think there's a bit of "bluff-calling" going on here ...

Do you have any idea what complicity would buy the GOP right now, if they ushered in the loss of Trump?

GOP candidates would get about 20,000 votes this year collectively, and it would be the last year the GOP would be a functioning entity.

If Trump is removed from office, I will NEVER vote for a Republican again.

Trump would be able to run on an Independent ticket, win, and the party would cease to exist.

No more RNC collection phone calls. DONE!

Independent can run for the Senate and House as well.

The (R)s would be replaced in a cycle or two.

M. Thatcher..

My biggest New Years resolution was to stop being so thinned skinned and as a result, nasty.

Please accept my earnest apology for the last post to you. It was completely out of line.

You’re right, Mitch isn’t much better.

I just figure with his wife in such a powerful position, he would act more in Trump’s favor.

He did get a lot of judges passed but maybe that’s praise for just doing his job

“Nope. WE are reaping what have sowed”

Sorry, Trump has a lot of power to help shape the party - by opposing bad candidates and bringing forward good ones. He hasn’t done that. He’s done just the opposite, providing endorsements for some of the worst of the worst, starting with Romney.

If he can’t block the circus, he can at least demand that no artificial limits be placed on witnesses. This 1 for 1 idea is stupid as hell. Let the Dems call their witnesses, let the Republicans call their witnesses, including those interviewed in secret in the basement, and Ukrainian witnesses via special visas, and Joe and Hunter and Blowy and the mystery IG and Schiff-for-brains. And litigate executive privilege issues regarding each witness the Dems want to call. Open the floodgates, and let Wile E. Coyote blow himself up on his latest Acme product.

I remember when Congress let GWB create courts (military commissions via executive orders), even though the plain language of the constitution says Congress has the power to create courts.

Took a couple years, but the courts got around to ridiculing Congress for rank dereliction.

Not that I expect the courts to ridicule congress over this impeachment fiasco, even though there are ample grounds to do so. Let this thing fester, and let the people see what sort of low-life scum is running the country.
