I don’t think McConnell has anything to do with it.

When it comes to impeachment, McConnell is as much in charge of the Senate as Pelosi was of the House: not at all.

The Senate RINOs will decide if there are witnesses. McConnell has no control over them, just like Pelosi had no control over The Squad. If the RINOs allow President Trump to call witnesses, he will call Hunter Biden and then the impeachment trial will get much more interesting.

> For better or for worse, Mitch McConnell runs the Senate better than any Republican you can name.

I will eat crow and ask for seconds if McConnell can shut this farce down without witnesses (which he should be able to do), otherwise he's Pelosi's bitch ...

They need to start taking away all committee assignments

The Senate RINOs hate President Trump so much that they would try to screw him even if Mitch the Bitch had their families at gun point. They would simply tell him "to ahead and fire."

Or, as others have said, his job is to do nothing, and do it well. This is not a court room, and it’s not a legal proceeding. It’s a political proceeding.

If there’s a Senate Whip, he better start doing his job!

Okay, call them all. This is what Pres. Trump wants. Stretch this out so gaffe-amatic is the nominee. Let the commies yell and scream. I’m good either way, since there are no underlying “High Crimes or Misdemeanors”.

Fine. Make them vote. Put them on public record opposing the president.

No Mitch was not always going to do this. He has apparently got four RINO pukes and we all know who they are who want to get their 15 minutes of spotlight. Its infuriating just like it was infuriating during the Kavanaugh confirmation.

Mitch is trying his best to end this charade!

“If he says President Trump wanted investigations before aid then why was the aid given without them?”

Trump had no right to stop aid which had been voted and approved by Congress. He switched after he was caught. The proper procedure would have been for him to discuss with Congress why he thought the aid should be delayed. The fact he did not is what makes him appear guilty of something wrong.

Illegal? Can the congress amend the constitution diminishing the executive’s power by simply passing a law.

-- Yes, but if Trump uses Exec Privilege, it would unfortunately make it look like he's trying to hide something that Bolton will say. --

Yes, of course. That is axiomatic every time privilege is asserted.

But the issue is institutional at this point. It has little to do with the instant case. The WH will fight a process where Congress attempts to side-step the courts on the question of privilege.

Exactly right. The operative word being “appeared”. With the case presented by the Trump legal team over the last 2 days there should be no doubt that the current Articles of Impeachment are on their face —. Not proven beyond a reasonable doubt and it would be unconstitutional for any sitting SENATOR —. Sitting as a jury member in an impeachment trial to cast a vote for conviction given the case as presented to them.

Now that being said. If the House want to launch new impeachment hearing in their various committees of jurisdiction they are certainly free to do so as long at they remain the majority party in the house.

Slow rolling money to a foreign country in order to achieve a political objective is the OBLIGATION of any US President. In the future President Trump should just make a public statement that funds are being slow rolled —- not denied just slow rolled. due to ongoing corruption investigation—.

If congress chooses to force the President to provide the funding before they deadline date they can do so with a veto proof majority vote. Absent a veto proof majority vote to override executive privilege —- I would argue that the President has every right to withhold funding And the internal debate on the merits of such withholding SHOULD remain a matter of confidentiality otherwise it could and would affect the candidness of the arguments within the internal advisory team.

Nope - there are some sick spiteful RINOs that want to “show fairness” in this partisan , unconstitutional coup attempt and even though they know there is no basis for impeachment, they want to drag the President through whatever muck they can - don’t blame Mitch for this.

A President can stop Congressional appointed foreign aid, not sure where you are getting your info from. If there is a reason, such as corruption, violations of treaties, is not in America’s best interest (Would probably require a court fight in that case), etc... a President can stop aid.

His job is to do nothing until you piss him off. Then you get to see him bare his fangs and hope it's not directed at you.

How can this venue have a presiding judge, an impaneled jury, a prosecution team and a defense team and it not be a court room. If you ask each of these whether they are in a legal or a political arena the answer you might get is that if this were a political arena they wouldn't be here. They're paid to be lawyers, not legislators. This is very much a legal venue.

Now I agree with you about the political backdrop that this arises from in that the impeachment team and the committees they stem from cannot point a single federal statute that has been violated by the President. That makes the Articles political in nature, which the Constitution allows for. And I will grant you that the line between the legal and the political in this instance is very, very blurred. It's kind of what makes this all so much fun!

Enjoy your day!

What was his excuse during obama’s 8 years?
RINOs?
Why didn’t he fight to get rid of those RINOs?
