The Republicans had better not screw this up or their future losses will be the thing of legends. They will never again rise from the salted earth and dust that was once the Republican Party. And that’s their best case scenario. The reality will probably be much worse for them individually.
For example Bolton, who we would not think would damage any senator. Calling the Bidens could damage that ex-senator with the same name, so that will get voted down?

The senators know who has damaging info on them. Those people won’t be called. I don’t know if that’s Biden (who I wouldn’t call) or Atkinson, or Ciarmarella. I’m just saying the senate is concerned with its members and nobody else.

The three or four RINOs are sweating bullets. Don’t vote for witnesses they lose their seats. McConnell realizes that Boltons’s testimony won’t amount to a hill of beans constitutionally and Trump will be acquitted no matter what because he did nothing wrong. And neither Trump or McConnell wants to lose any of these senate seats to demoncrats, as that would cost us the senate and we get no more judges. So he’s reluctantly letting them off the hook without twisting any arms too much on the witness vote. Some or all of them will vote for acquittal anyway. Trump wins, gets reelected, we keep the senate. Now we’ve got to concentrate on taking back the house so we can really get down to the business of draining the swamp.
Taking control of the senate was the real goal of the dems impeachment effort. Trump was never in danger.

he real question is:
Why did Mitch inform the world that he hasn’t the votes to win a procedural resolution ( 51)?
a) The let the Dems know that if they vote, then Biden, whistleblower, Adam Schiff , IG for NSA, etc. will be called as witnesses?
b) to let the Dems know that he will succumb to the latest Media leaks so they wont bring another set of leaks and then bring his majority as surprise?
c)to bring public pressure on Romney, Collins, Murkowski to get in line with the rest of the GOP?
d) to signal the Presidents legal team to prepare a witness request list?
e) to inform the public that the Senate will be tied up for months with this impeachment trial?
Its now mirrors within mirrors. Mitch is wily. To tell the truth, very few know what Mitch has up his sleeve.Not even the Dems.
