Here's why neither George W. Bush nor Barack Obama killed Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani, who the US just took out in an airstrike

On Thursday evening, the Pentagon confirmed that at the direction of President Donald Trump, US forces killed Iranian Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani in an airstrike near Baghdad's airport, the most drastic step toward conflict with Iran in the 21st century.

Soleimani was for decades one of the most important and highly regarded military figures in Iran, playing a pivotal role in shaping Iranian foreign policy and the politics of the Middle East today.

The killing of the high-level commander, first reported by Iraqi state TV and later confirmed in a Pentagon statement, is the US's most significant escalation of tensions against Iran yet and is likely to further inflame conflict in the region and provoke severe retaliation.

Would have been simpler to use a couple of 5 megaton warheads when he was in Tehran.

When “severe retaliation” is bandied about, its the Iranians who must consider how severe our retaliation will be if they continue to escalate.

I guess for the same reason neither Bush nor Obama moved the US Embassy to Jerusalem. I guess we really really pissed them off this time.

The problem with Rand Paul is that he’s not anywhere close to being as smart as he thinks he is.

Oh sure.

If we don’t constantly roll over and expose our bellies to the predators, we’re the problem.

“The killing of the high-level commander, first reported by Iraqi state TV and later confirmed in a Pentagon statement, is the US’s most significant escalation of tensions against Iran yet and is likely to further inflame conflict in the region and provoke severe retaliation.”

These kinds of statements - the actions provoked an escalation - are always made when the U.S. retaliates. They are not made when the U.S. is provoked. So they were not made when the Iranian supported militias led attacks on U.S. forces in Iraq. Only when the U.S. retaliated for those attacks. The comments were not made when Iran engineered the storming of the U.S. embassy by Iran supported militia “protestors”. And again, the only western media objection claiming an “escalation” was over the U.S. response.

The whole agenda is to get the U.S. to give our opponents a break.

Because they were both globalist pussies. Bush knew Iran was killing American soldiers and carefully avoided even a single bomber hitting Iran.
The FIRST time Iranians attacked us in Iraq, Bush the moron should have annihilated them some evening.

But he let them get away with it. And Obama continued the cowardly policy.

Oh great, first Trump destroys our economy by igniting a ruinous trade war with his tariffs, and now ....

Oh wait, the pearl clutching never Trumpers all said that would happen but it didn't. Hmmmm, maybe I should just ignore them on this and every other topic.

Every time Obama was confronted with mulsim extremism, he defended it and supported it. Prove me wrong.

I have watched you tube videos of a man who eliminates yellow jackets an hornets.

He hold a shop vac hose next to the entry hole and then beats on the hive. As the disturbed insects come flying out they get vacuumed into the water in the shop vac.

Disturbing the hive and Upsetting the occupants allows easy destruction of the colony

It is the same argument made that the guy that killed the church shooter was wrong, that arresting criminals is wrong, that doing anything to protect yourself and property is wrong.

It will make the MEAN PEOPLE feel bad and maybe HURT ME AGAIN.

In other words, it is a beaten wife going back to the abuser. It is lure of the STATUS of victim hood. It is worm tongue.

The other path is quick correction. The mean people figure out that you are not food, and either stop or get made to stop.

Sadly, in the US, the preferred path is to make our people die to protect the feelings of those who hate us.

I am not saying this is a strategic success. The killing may be a mess up. But if it ends with the middle east a back water, it will be a good thing. We don’t need their own, don’t need their people, and don’t need a dang thing from them. Let them rot.

Rand Paul is a Libertarian.

Luke warm, and more than willing to let the world burn if as long as he gets a comfortable seat and praised as one of the best.

Love him or hate him, he is consistent.
