Please learn how to post links.

You keep posting links that lead back to the FR page.

I know how to post links, been doing it for years. . . but I see what you mean. Let’s try this again. Something got screwed up. Could be something wrong with the Fox Link.

Democrats unveil articles of impeachment alleging abuse of power, obstruction

How’s that?

Abuse of power and obstructing Congress?? Really? If those are the definitions of high crimes and misdemeanors then every President ever elected could have been impeached.

Has there been a vote?

Not yet. . . They just announced what they were going to do.

“Verdict first, trial after.” The Queen of Hearts, Alice in Wonderland, although she was wearing Blue this morning.

I could feel the ugly hate emanating from that rogue’s gallery of a press conference.

It was palpable. I couldn’t help but notice that Nancy Pelosi had sort of separated herself from the rest of the rogues. There’s at least 10” of space between her and Maxine Waters, who is standing shoulder to shoulder with the rest of the impeachers. . . Look at the video of the announcement on Fox News’ site.

Aren’t the dems obstructing justice by not letting witnesses answer questions put to them by Republicans?

“Abuse of power” = policy we don’t like.

...and considering we have three “co-equal” branches of government, I have no idea of what “Obstruction of Congress” even means.

If this is what all this has boiled down to....it’s beyond pathetic.

It’s not an actual thing as it pertains to a President troll.

That’s what they came up with?

THAT IS SERIOUSLY WHAT THEY CAME UP WITH????????!

Why not put in “bad manners” while they are at it?

I get the impression that when this impeachment trial run fails, they will be back with another run trying “quid quo pro” and “bribery”, then the next time “emoluments” and “obstruction of justice.” After that they might try the “bad manners,” “rude Tweeting,” and “offending my sensibilities” charges. They might just end up with “Orange Man Bad” as a grand finale!

What is called Obstruction of Congress was actually Implementation of Justice.

So the whistleblower was what, a smoke screen, a diversion, did they even exist?

The whistleblower was a contrived predicate to get it started. . . That’s all.

Here is a theory. Not sure I believe it myself yet, but its a possibility. The dems already know they have lost, and these ‘watered down’ articles of impeachment are there to appease they loony base. Nancy is now saying she is ready to move on the Mexico/Canada trade agreement? why would she bring that up today if they are voting on impeachment tomorrow? Perhaps its all falling apart behind the scenes? Just speculation of course.

Abuse of Power: Pelosi, Schiff, Nadler, and congress

Obstruction of Congress: Nadler, Schiff, and Pelosi

Presidents have a right to ask other world leaders for help in discovering corruption before giving aid to corrupt countries. Where did President Trump obstruct congress?

Is “abuse of power” a crime?

It could be. Suppose you accepted large sums of cash from a convicted of selling arms to terrorists and is living in exile in Switzerland or somewhere like that and in return pardon him. Oh, that happened: Bill Clinton with Mark Rich. But nobody got impeached so bad example.

So I'll try another example where abuse of power could be impeachable (in my view). Suppose a President weaponized the CIA and FBI to spy on his political adversaries during an election, even going so far as to use foreign agents to fake evidence that they use to lie to a court and get warrants. Oh shoot, that's not a good example because that also happened and nobody got impeached.

Here's one! Suppose a President authorized a program to transfer guns to cartels in Central America by illegally transporting them south to be sold in Mexico just so they could then make political hay about US guns being used in crimes all over the world as a means to generate support for cancelling out US citizens rights. But then those guns ended up being bought by extremely violent drug cartels and those US Government supplied guns are still being used to murder people today? Certainly that would be impeachable, people die in this scenario just so the President can get a headline! Oh wait, that happened too and nobody was impeached.

Well here's one: what if a high US government official from a prior adminstration was caught on tape bragging about how he had forced a foreign government to fire a prosecuter that was investgating a company that was giving someone close, say a relative of some sort, a baffling sweetheart deal that looks highly suspicious and the new President asked the foreign leader to look into whether that really did happen and was it illegal? Hmm, I don't know, that actually doesn't sound bad at all. Oh wait, I forgot to add, the President was a republican and the government official was a democrat. That changes everything! Impeachable!

Here's the thing about this. We can all argue the fine point like monks arguing about how many angles can dance on the head of a pin but the real issue here is that the Democrats are about to cross the rubicon, that point of no turning back where everything changes.

In this case, the dems are using impeachment as a tool to persecute a President with no underlying crime even being alleged. This has never happened before. Dems might say the GOP did it to Clinton but there was an actual crime on the books that Clinton was caught red handed committing.

Obstruction of Congress? From a political party that has a movement of liars and leakers that call themselves the resistance (to the President), that's rich. Abuse of power? The only basis for that is "If I were President I wouldn't do it that way". Not a crime, a disagreement. Never before has this been done in the 220ish years of our government.

You can be damned sure that this will be a regular feature of government in the future if it works even a little bit. unless the dems are punished by the voters in overwhelming numbers they will come back to this approach for every political opponent. They will impeach judges, censure colleagues, impeach every GOP President repeatedly. This, by the way, exactly what happened in Rome when the Roman Senate realized they could get rid of political opponents by prosecuting them for fake crimes. It worked great until they tried doing it to Julius Caesar.

They must be made to suffer politically for this or a bedrock assumption of our republic: that leaders in government can fight like hell but in the end they will not abuse their authority for nakedly political purposes. Once that begins, our government can't function and it's the beginning of the end.
