This explains why Trump didn't inform Dems before the raid.

Bill Sherman would likely not be a good fit in Atlanta.

Not telling Dems was genius. Dems can appeal on the basis of constitutionality, but they have to take a stand against killing Bugdady.

I wouldn’t tell Congress a damn thing until after action - beg forgiveness if unsuccessful. They don’the need to be involved.

I share your disdain for the Soro/socialist press corps.

But, the South did not behead perceived opponents, burn them alive in cages, and rape women.

Also, I’ll bet a significant number of the military personnel who carried out the raid in Syria were brave Southerners.

So, respectfully, you might not want to compare apples to oranges.

You read something on the interwebs, but can link no source? You should really request this thread be deleted.

Well, I dont really care whether they raped women, hanged them, burned them, placed them in an iron maiden etc. It’s war. To think every army in history played by the rules of conduct and “nice” is nonsense. And I wont pretend that I actually cared what the Northern Army did more than a hundred years ago. They won. Sherman did his job and won a war of attrition against the South. I thought that if Stonewall was around during that time, he would have given Sherman a run for his money..

I just didn’t think it was appropriate to hijack a perfectly good post, by inserting something that was sure to deflect from the original subject.

You must know that a significant number of Free Republic posters do not share your affinity for General Sherman.

I will leave it at that. Have a great day!

that’s why Tecumseh Sherman wanted ALL journalists DEAD because they kept reporting their movements to the South...yes, he said he wanted them dead.

However, as he admitted, even if he got his wish, he would be reading leaks and dispatches from hell before his first cup of coffee the next morning.

I’m reminded of the Russian Ambassador’s statement in DR. STRANGLOVE...”Our source was the New York Times!”

I’m reminded of the secret info that came out during the Watergate Hearings back in 1973. Told not to talk about it, the congressmen made a beeline to the first camera and mike to spill their guts.

For reasons like this is why the military should not under any circumstances embed reporters in operations or have informal briefings off the record. All briefings should be run through PAO office with the proper sanitation to protect the soldiers. Reporters are often not friends of the soldiers or they will blab information to those who wish harm on the soldiers. In other cases it is the reporters employer who wants the headlines before the others gain the news cycle with all lack of disregard to the soldiers safety.

CNN is based in Atlanta, and considering what he did there, there might still be some hard feelings.

Poor execution on TC’s part, but there is a link to a video, and it is very interesting.

General claims there were previous leaks.

Ouch! You are correct. I didn’t think of that. He better focus on Fox instead. Btw, Our POTUS is doing a pretty good job of making CNN howl.

I’d be curious to see what leaked information the New York Times revealed. The fact that Abu Sayyaf had been killed and his wife captured was put out in a press release the day after the raid.
