Wood Buried Under Ocean Floor Thousands of Miles at Sea

October 22, 2019 | David F. Coppedge

Wood chips hundreds of feet deep in ocean sediments have been found. How did they get there?

Watch out for ocean trees.

Geology researchers from the University of Southern California (USC) went boring into ocean sediments near India, and were surprised to find direct evidence that “Catastrophic events carry forests of trees thousands of miles to a burial at sea.” They pulled up six cores of sediment from the ocean floor a thousand feet below the surface. The cores were extracted miles apart and over a thousand miles from shore.

Geology researchers at USC Dornsife find, for the first time, evidence that fresh wood can move from its home far inland to settle deep in the ocean, a discovery that appears to add to current models of Earth’s carbon cycle.

One implication is that this kind of burial of wood at sea will cause revisions of Earth’s carbon cycle. Climate models have not sufficiently taken this kind of carbon sequestration into account. But another implication was unexpected. How did wood chips from trees growing on mountains two miles high end up under the ocean floor?

What’s mysterious is how a freckle on an ancient primordial blob became a functional eye.

Gee. It's nice to know that trees don't sink. Ever. You know, like all those old growth trees that sank after being harvested and rafted down stream in Wisconsin, that some guy is diving on and raising, at a profit, because the wood is so fine grained and straight...

Or the sunken ships made of wood that float, like the one in Lake Michigan, the Rouse Simmons, loaded with Christmas trees, that sank in 1912, off Two Rivers, WI.

It would be nice if everyone believed in a Judgement in the Afterlife. Then we could trust Democrats to be worried about lying, while under oath.

“How could wood get buried thousands of miles out in the deep sea?”

Because the Indian “subcontinent” has been migrating up from the S. Hemisphere for eons, and water levels were far lower?

Obviously global warming caused by Americans. What they discovered was once a forest, now it’s under molten icebergs.

Natives in Tahiti carved their best canoes from California redwoods.

So if this is true, is it also true that California redwoods are routinely found on the beaches of Tahiti. If not, why not?

Remember after the Fukushima tsunami, an entire wooden pier floated across the Pacific and crashed on the beach in Oregon or Washington. Stuff moves across the ocean.

The wood is from a forest that was dry land 10 years ago, but Americans driving their SUVs caused it to sink...

A lib would think that is true... 😀

Got it. I read somewhere that the oceans were 700+ feet lower than they are now. It doesn’t take much geotectonic subduction to lower the land 300 feet.

Thanks.

Even if the trees in question are substantially intact, core drilling is only going to get you chips.

I don't understand how something happened ∴ God. QED! * * * * * * * * * * * * * Alternatively: You don't understand how something happened ∴ there is no God. QED! Only evolution QED! Also: You are not willing to accept the proof of the created order and believe that it all happened by chance - ∴ there is no God.
