California adds Iowa to 'travel ban' over refusal to fund gender transitions

California announced last week that it has added Iowa to the list of states on its ever-expanding “travel ban” list because of that state’s new prohibition against funding gender-transition surgeries under Medicaid.

The announcement by state Attorney General Xavier Becerra means that as of Oct. 4, California will no longer offer taxpayer-funded trips to Iowa for any public employee or student at a state-run university.

Becerra’s authority came from a 2016 California law signed by then-Gov. Jerry Brown that bars state-funded travel to other states that undercut LGBT rights. The blacklist already included Alabama, Kentucky, North Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma and Mississippi.

Conservatives have called the law ineffective, inconveniencing, possibly unconstitutional and hypocritical. The state’s sports teams have turned to private funding to get around the restrictions, according to The Los Angeles Times. …

If I was an Iowegan I would be beaming with pride.

Some Entrepreneur ought to pump out “Proud to have been banned by California” tee-shirts. Could make a killing.

They are actually doing citizens in the blacklisted states a favor by keeping leftist Californians from traveling there.

I’m all in favor of this for one simple reason: It means less taxpayer dollars going to pay for government-sponsored trips to other states. As a California resident, I’d love it if the state of California would extend this to all other states (and the rest of the world), irrespective of the reason. Of course this “ban” has no effect on private citizens, or even on government officials if they want to pay their own way.

Involuntary secession (expulsion) for the fruit-loop states. That’s an amendment I’d support.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I can see Cali secession & replace them with hong kong as the 50th state!

Iowa and the other states should transition all their delusionals to California where they can get chopped, hacked and hormones for free.

Why does CA think that they are so high and mighty that they can dictate policy to other states? Oh yes, I forgot they are run by a bunch of hypocrite Dems.

I like this idea of limited trips to Iowa...

As a California resident...no CA Dems should EVER visit Iowa...

Not even during election season.

Especially, Sister-ACT Kamla Harris, who isn’t a sister at all...She Jamaico-Indio... whatever you call that blend...it ain’t African American.

Let’s see the fireworks!

My Iowa friends and family are good with this.
Funny how the tolerant left is into banning things. Kind of, intolerant.

“AND that Iowa caucus that seems to happen in all Presidential elections? STAY AWAY!”

Good, then we can kiss Kamala Harris goodbye.

Every time I fly to Norway to see family, the air travel booking sites present a number of options, rated in ascending order of cost. Or if I use my FF miles, there are also a number of choices, usually ranked the shortest travel time at top (which usually means the least number of flights). I have often ended up choosing an itinerary that includes LAX or SanFran or other California airports in the path.

No more! Even if I have to pay extra when I buy my flights, or travel many hours extra when using my FF miles, I will *not* be flying thru California.

Does anyone know how much that costs the state each time someone does that? I know that an airport tax is always paid, even with my FF-booked flights. And of course there are the meals you buy at an airport. And a hotel booking if something goes wrong. Are there any other costs that they lose?

And don't forget, her own father has stated that some of his ancestors were slave owners. She needs to take some time off to stay at home with a spreadsheet, and calculate just how much in reparations she owes herself.
