Barr can't pass the buck on Epstein
CNN ^ | Aug 13 2019 | Elie Honig

When Attorney General William Barr said he was "appalled" and "angry" after Jeffrey Epstein's apparent suicide at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan, you'd almost have thought Barr himself bore no responsibility. He spoke of "serious irregularities" and "demanded" an investigation -- as if he were some outside observer incapable of simply ordering an investigation himself.

Listening to him pour fire and brimstone on the rank-and-file who run the jail, you almost have to wonder: Has Barr taken a look at his org chart recently? Because the Metropolitan Correctional Center is part of the Bureau of Prisons, which is part of the Justice Department, which Barr runs.

He is responsible for all of it. This happened in Barr's house. He doesn't get to stand outside, wag his finger, roll the blame downhill and call it a day.

Yeah, the AG should keep a telepathic read on every federal cell in America.
What a crock.

Like Barr has time to micro-manage every prison in the US 24 hours a day. He has no other duties. Where do these bozos come from. They don’t have a clue. They just throw stones at everyone they don’t like. The Democrats ONLY platform consists of “Beat Trump”. That’s it. They’re divided on the other stuff.

But, but....

Barr DID do something.

He fired some nameless apparatchik who had nothing do with nothing.

What a brainless little twit this writer is. I don’t recall her saying that Obama ownes all the corruption that happened under his watch. In fact, if asked she would probably say there was non, thus proving she is brainless, or corrupt or both.

The only importance that I attach to Epstein's death is any connection others might have had in his filthy, depraved, felonious life. I'm particularly interested in BillyBob’s regular flights on Lolita Airways.

What a crock.

So you don’t think it was incredibly important to make sure Epstein stayed alive? You don’t think Barr should have made this one of his top personal priorities? The Epstein case wasn’t important enough for that kind of special attention?

You and I will have to agree to disagree. I believe Barr should have been on this case like white on rice. He should have had s feed from the cell monitoring camera going right into his office. Apparently he was “too busy “ for that. Result: Epstein has been silenced, and a lot of evil people are breathing easier

I’m sorry I gotta agree with it to some extent.

He KNEW about the first “suicide” attempt and by then PEOPLE HERE were talking about how he was gonna get murdered.

AM I supposed to believe that Barr didn’t know the very same thing??

And if he did (and he did) figure that, he could have EASILY taken measures to ensure epstein’s survival until trial.

We’re still seeing good guys and bad guys throw our lenses but almost ALL of these guys protect each other in the end.

I wouldn’t faint if I heard Barr knew about what was going to happen.

I don’t think so but I wouldn’t faint.

Go ahead, attack.

Good point. This case wasn’t important enough for Barr to monitor it closely and personally keep on top of Epstein’s confinement and how he was guarded

On this issue I happen to agree with the author. Epstein was easily the feds most famous prisoner. It’s not Barr’s job to be a warden. However, he should have taken some status briefings on the particulars of Epstein’s confinement and made corrective actions as necessary.

Okay. What is the AG supposed to do? Personally go to ONE prison to deal with this? Extremely impractical AND stupid. Those to blame are the loser prison employees and the State of New York.

If it weren’t for the civil service law that prevents him from firing these guys that might be true.

Yes, yes! I think I see where CNN is going with this...Barr runs the prisons, ergo the Russians were let into the prison to kill Epstein which proves TRUMP COLLUDED WITH THE RUSSIANS!!

"Brilliant deduction Holmes"

"Elementary my dear Watson"

NOW the AG doesn’t have ANY power and couldn’t do anything?!??!!

OF COURSE HE COULD DEMAND 24/7 SURVEILLANCE OF THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT PRISONER IN THE UNITED STATES AT THAT TIME!!!

AND DEMAND ISOLATION!

It’s RIDICULOUS to make it sounds like the AG didn’t have the power to MAKE SURE he lived to trial.

Gotta disagree man

People sometimes see what they want to see.

Why? Because CNN posted the article?

Funny, CNN didn’t have this level of concern when Obama CONSTANTLY stood by and was appalled by what his own policies and administration wrought.

I believe Rush referred to it as the “Limbaugh Theory.”

I agree with you. The buck stops with him.

I do wonder who is above the head of Fed prisons...Barr or someone else
