The decision not to prosecute former FBI Director James Comey over his deliberate leaks to the media isnt a sign of weakness or lack of will, but of the professionalism and well-reasoned restraint of President Trumps Department of Justice.
Attorney General Bill Barrs number one goal since taking the helm at the DOJ has been to restore the impartial and professional ethos that has characterized that agency for more than 200 years.
He is working diligently to cleanse it of the stain of politically driven vindictiveness that Obama-era officials created by grossly mishandling the Clinton email investigation, and then, even more egregiously, orchestrating the series of events that led to the Russiagate witch hunt.
ROBERT MUELLER'S RUSSIA INVESTIGATION BY THE NUMBERS
Before this investigation of the investigators is over, there will undoubtedly be many cases of misconduct that warrant criminal prosecution. Comeys, however, was not one of them.
What Comey did -- release private memos made in the course of his employment as FBI director to politically damage the president of the United States, who had just fired him for unrelated misconduct -- was absolutely outrageous, and totally unbecoming of the leader of this countrys premier criminal investigatory agency. It speaks volumes about Comeys corrupt character and further illustrates why both President Trump and then-Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein concluded that Comey was no longer fit to serve in that role.

It was “classified” AFTER Comey leaked it. That is an absolutely verifiable and undeniable FACT!
Oh and it was a “confidential classification” which is the lowest category of classified material and it was done by the FBI not the DOJ.
Anything derived from an official conversation with a sitting President is by definition classified.
Parenthetical first: therefore 1.
ARE SOME OF YOU LISTENING TO YOURSELVES?!!!
“The reason he didn’t bring charges are because FAR BIGGER ones are coming I tell ya!!”
Bull s...
Bringing charges would have started to bring to the masses evidence of Comey’s and others’ corruption.
There was NOTHING to lose.
mueller didn’t give a #### what the crime was.
Nothing is going to happen in a week or a month or a year
I use to think differently. Now I know better.
That is disingenuous. An official conversation with a sitting President is automatically classified.
Told ya, swamp eel released.
All I know is that the Inspector General referred James Comey to the DOJ for prosecution. I like to think Michael Horowitz knows the law and would not have made a criminal referral regarding Comey if it was crystal clear no crime had been committed.
So I defer to IG Horowitz. If he thinks Comey committed a prosecutable crime, then I defer to him.
I’m sorry, you are wrong. If that were the case every single word uttered by a president to another in private would automatically be considered “classified” and that is not valid.
Conversations with the President are reviewed by any of a number of different agencies ie. DOJ, CIA, FBI, NSA etc. depending on the content/subject and then certain material is classified if adjudged to meet relevant criteria.
It is not being disputed that what Comey did was illegal. It is agreed that what he did was illegal. The only reason DOJ said they would not prosecute was because it would be difficult to prove Comey’s intent. They are not saying what he did was legal or that the memo was not classified.
The Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz sent a referral to the Justice Department about memos Comey leaked, which he testified was done in the hopes they would spark a special counsel investigation. Although prosecutors found the watchdog’s findings compelling, they decided against prosecution under classified information protection laws because of there being too much uncertainty surrounding Comey’s intent. Comey has denied leaking classified information in his memos.
“If he thinks Comey committed a prosecutable crime, then I defer to him.”
The IG determines if a “crime” has been committed. The AG concludes whether the crime is “prosecutable”
“....isnt a sign of weakness or lack of will, but of the professionalism and well-reasoned restraint of President Trumps Department of Justice...”
I’ve got their restraint right here. I hope we aren’t still saying the same thing a year from now.
“Barr will say his hands are tied by the IG report, etc. “
We are always waiting on some freaking lame IG report which invariably farts and falls.

“For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they ALL MIGHT BE DAMNED who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness” (2 Thessalonians 2:7-12).
No need to die, the answer is 1.
BTW, who is they?
He spent that whole article arguing that the reason Comey shouldn’t be prosecuted is exactly the reason he should be prosecuted. Scratching my head
one
My first reaction to this is to say “Horsehockey”!
I guess I understand his argument, but I reject his conclusion. The people of this county want their leaders held accountable. If we get to the point where our society has no more faith that the rule of law is applicable to everyone, and not just us common folk, then we will have lost all hope of being a country.
Hold the criminals responsible!!! Comey, Brennan, clapper, Hillary, all of them!
