Garrow is confident the information is accurate.
He has been writing about FBI surveillance for 40 years and said that of the tapes that he has listened to, the corresponding summaries are "about 99% accurate." "The only errors we usually see is when the FBI is too phonetic or too literal," Garrow said. "But I know this is not a popularity contest. This article, as with my books — whether on the FBI, King or Roe v. Wade — I am doing what I am doing for the long run. The article will still be read and studied after people forget this week's blog post."
Garrow, who won the 1987 Pulitzer Prize for his book "Bearing the Cross: Martin Luther King Jr. and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference," has his supporters. ~snip~

Obviously Senator Jesse Helms had heard reports about the content of the MLK sexually explicit tapes and the 1964 Rape tape. According to another interview of author David Garrow, he had personally heard from several DOJ lawyers that they had listened to specifically to the rape assault tape. This was in early 1980. Now he has written confirmation of the hearsay.
A specific court order should be obtained to release the tapes and disclose the truth. While attempting to defend King and discredit the messenger, Garrow, they still are forced to write about it because they know the tapes are a ticking time-bomb. The NYT, WaPo, AJC and now the Baltimore Sun have finally mentioned the credible allegations of King's sexual deviant life and including his role regarding another pastor's rape and sexual assault.
Had this been any Republican office holder or popular Conservative supporter dead or alive, it would have headlined the news 24/7. .
#MeToo. It would have been a nonstop drumbeat..... Reagan, GHWB, Scalia, Eisenhower, or Hannity, Rush, Carlson, Newt, Palin, any member of Congress, any lobbyist, NRA, any member of the Trump family or one tied to his organization, any Christian leader- Falwell, Jeffers, etc. Even a 'beloved' Bush would have been driven over by the progressive bus.
The tapes will never come out. The MLK cult is too embedded at this point, they will keep it sealed or it will inevitably be destroyed in an archive fire.

When do we get to hear the tapes?
I want this to all come out eventually, but it looks like an attempt to cause racial division right before the 2020 election. Democrats are afraid of Trump’s growing popularity with blacks and Hispanics, and they will try something to stop it. Don’t fall for their tricks. MAGA!
But these have no CIA assets to protect and the FBI agents are long retired, many deceased. There is nothing compromised by the release.
2 things I found from this article:
1. Many key Senators and Congressman had to have known of the rape-assault-tape because Sen. Jesse Helms knew. He wanted to force his fellow colleagues to listen to it prior to voting for the MLK Holiday. Ted Kennedy absolutely knew and had likely heard all the sex tapes, first hand with his brothers and then some with others.
2. The tapes can be released with a special court order. That should happen before they bleachbit or light them afire.
Was this really rape rape, or are they trying to dethrone saint MLK?
We know the FBI is a highly bureaucratic and political organization

I dunno ... I’m thinking this sort of story is likely to paint Trump in a very sympathetic like as a victim of U.S. government surveillance.
There are no tricks. It’s called ugly history. The left is mum and trying to tiptoe around the reality of the icon that they built.
The legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. stands on it’s own merit and is not to be conflated 50 years later with MAGA or Reagan/Bush/Trump, etc. Nothing King will retard the advancement or the accomplishments of the Civil Rights Movement. He did not stand alone just because he was the one fallen. However, it will change the historical perspective of him, as a leader.
Black Conservatives and MAGA leaders will not jump ship due to King’s 1960’s orgies. They are already independent thinkers and not part of the parasitic herd of the Left. It was King that defamed Barry Goldwater and the Republican Party and compelled black voters NOT to vote Republican, reducing our Black R vote by 1/3rd (32-38% to 10-14%)
Based upon RR’s comments regarding MLK Day, Reagan most likely had heard everything the rest of the FBI, Kennedy’s, & DOJ had learned over the 20 years prior about King.
Nothing which is written here will prevent the exposure of the TRUTH. We can not stop the FOIA requests for the records from media sources or other MLK biographers which are already being processed. King’s protection time expired 2017.

Wow. Major UK newspapers had legit witnesses with tons of credibility come out with evidence, and the story was bludgeoned as it sailed across the Atlantic.
No one on the left ever heard this. Or dared breathe of it if they did.

I believe it to be true...I heard about it contemporaneously from FBI and DEA agents with whom I worked at the time.
It’s a forcible violent rape of a parishioner committed not by King, but a fellow pastor from Baltimore. If the victim had been laughing or having a great time, it would have been just more of the same from the King orgy tapes.
It was recorded and transcribed in 1964 by the FBI.
It was summarized in reports that were classified with the JFK files.
It was suppressed from public records for 50 years by a federal judge.
That timeline expired in 2017 and those records are unsealed, available.
I remember Paul Ryan commenting about all the rumors and allegations he had heard from "reliable" sources about Trump's cooperation and collusion with the Russians. Ryan of course was "deeply concerned" and convinced of their truth.
Washington DC is worse than a high school lunchroom in terms of transmitting, warping and believing lies and rumors. I imagine that was a major part of Brennan and Clapper's plan all along. The idea that "high placed sources" told you something carries zero weight.
David Garrow has no affiliation with the FBI, he’s a highly esteemed MLK author and life-long historian of civil rights.
It makes no sense that FBI agents would falsify summary records that can be easily proven or disproven from the tapes. One which was sent to King, himself. The FBI mailed King one of his orgy tapes in 1967.
