Las Vegas grandmother sues TSA after they 'forced her to do a strip search and made her remove a common feminine hygiene product' (full title)
Rhonda Mengert had been traveling from the Tulsa International Airport on Mother's Day when her hip implant caused the metal detector to sound off. Mengert - who has TSA Pre-check - informed agents that she had the implant but agreed to a pat down test. During the pat down, an agent found a 'common feminine hygiene product that Mengert was wearing underneath her clothing.'
The agent then tested her gloves and found no explosive residue on them - as per protocol - but informed Mengert that she had to undergo more test. In a private room, the agent and another forced Mengert to strip out of her pants and underwear.... and remove a 'common feminine hygiene product' before her flight back home.
Mengert's lawyer state that the woman suffered emotional distress during and after the event. ~snip~
She is requesting a trial by jury and is seeking a undetermined amount in damages.
The grandmother had just left her family for the holiday when she experienced the traumatic search
A screener and another agent - the two defendants in the case - instructed Mengert to go into a private room so that they could 'clear the area.'
She was then allegedly told to remove her pants and underwear and to then remove the product for 'visual inspection.'
Initially refusing, Mengert eventually complied and removed her garments while exposing her genitals to the agents.
After she 'satisfied the screeners request' and proved that she wasn't carrying any prohibited items, Mengert had to ask four times if she could leave before she was allowed.

You will sail right on through security and not have to deal with this garbage.
I hope that she collects $millions$ for this abuse.
Pretty disgusting.
She should have tried acting like an illegal invader and gotten a pass.
Flying has become miserable. Between the abuses of TSA and putting up with the f’n comfort animals it is the low point of any trip.
If she were an illegal there would have been no problem
Maybe they do this because they think it’s Funny
It could be worse. You could be flying long distance on United.
It could be worse. You could be on a 14 hour flight on United.
TSA - whenever someone feels sad about muzzies they’re the fallout. Complaining about the TSA is a form of islamophobia.
Sorta like “TSA meets #Metoo”. Of course, all we have is one side of the story. If I’m not mistaken, most TSA inspectors are contractors and unionized so if there is guilt, it will be the contracting agency that will pay the cost yet the unionized inspector may not get fired, merely placed on “probation”.
I’m guessing the inspectors will claim they thought they had found a drug mule and the feminine hygiene product appeared to them like a hiding place for drugs.
Why it doesn’t pay to fly anymore.
BTW, they rarely clean the cabin in the Aircraft these days.
People come to fly wearing little more than their under-ware.
Sad.
Disgusting.
The stupid screeners for TSA will never suffer a minute.
I hope she sues and wins a lot of money then uses it for a civil suit against the screeners.
We tax payers will cover the costs of course.
OK, I checked and she’s NOT a hot granny! I doubt that ANYONE would want to see that naked if they could get out of it.
My guess is that the jury will award her a half-off pizza coupon for pain and suffering.
But...don’t even THINK about peeking under that burka.
Bored lesbians
“Why it doesnt pay to fly anymore.”
And she had to pay for the privilege of having a strip/body cavity search.
How old is tjis grand mother???
The only way this travesty, created by GWB and a GOP-e Congress, (who never fly Commercial) will be resolved is to sue TSA till they surrender.
