Democrats look at packing the Supreme Court to pack the vote
CNN ^ | May 31, 2019 | Joan Biskupic

Republicans have been successfully leveraging the Supreme Court balance of power as a major campaign issue to ignite their base since the 1980s. For Democrats, the 2020 election may mark the first in modern times that they unite around the high court as a driving force in a presidential election.

Democratic candidates are increasingly advocating "court packing," that is, upping the number of Supreme Court justices to balance the bench -- or ensure a liberal majority. The idea is unlikely to succeed for historical and practical reasons but its resonance on the campaign trail reflects Democrats' new emphasis on the judiciary during the Trump era.

The issue emerges partly from lingering anger over the Republican-led Senate's 2016 stall of President Barack Obama's nominee Merrick Garland, a fire stoked this week when Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said if a Supreme Court vacancy occurred in 2020 election year, he would confirm a Trump nominee.

I think we should just exile liberals to N. Korea.

Doesn’t matter.
Nearly everything on the communist platform in 2020 is a civil war trigger.

Unfortunately. Once the Dems pack the court, there will not be another chance for the repubs to reverse it or repack it. The Dem packed SC will ensure Dems stay in power, and diminish all individual rights to being gov priviledges that can be revoked. Repubs will never be back in power to return the SC to ‘balance.’

Every new liberal idea has exactly two flavors:

  1. Raise taxes.
  2. Increase their grip on political power.

They have no ideas to make this a better country or improve the lives of the citizens. They only seek to accrue wealth and power to themselves.

You summed it up perfectly and are 100% correct. If only people would realize this and act accordingly: VOTE.

If a poll was ever conducted with the question “Is our two party system working” ? The response would be 90% negative. What is being employed by This so called coup etat against Trump should not be viewed as against Trump but an impeachment of our constitution. .

Everything the man has attempted to get done has been blocked by a radical group composed mainly of members of the democrat party in top leadership legislative and judicial branches of government who view the constitution as an obstacle to their concepts of government intrusion on individdual liberty guaranteed by it as they advance their policies.

miss the point of the big picture, that the majority is critical, not an individual candidate

I do not agree.

I voted for DJT in the 2016 election, I did not vote for Kelly Ayotte, and she lost an R Senate seat to a radical leftist by 700 votes.

It's very important to punish elected officials who betray the trust placed in them. When Ayotte renounced her support for Donald Trump and urged others not to vote for him in October 2016, I decided I could no longer support her. Not because the Senate majority is unimportant. Because loyalty and trustworthiness in elected officials is important, and when they don't have it, they have to lose something important, in this case, her seat in the Senate.

I'm glad she lost.

Every time these people open their mouths, they confirm beyond any doubt that they are not interested in the Constitution, or any set of rules; they are not interested in the welfare of the people, or in governing well; they are ONLY, ONLY, ONLY interested in obtaining, maintaining and growing their power over everyone else.

These people are totalitarians, pure and simple. Our educational system has utterly failed (or, rather, what Stalin initiated here and in the UK in the 1930s has borne fruit - our very educational system has been perverted and undermined by a foreign power intent upon destroying us from within).

Fight these people now, and at every opportunity. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER allow them to hold significant power again, because if they do then we are going to have a situation like Stalinist Russia, but with tracking technology that is many orders of magnitude better. We will end up in a hot civil war before long...either that, or those of us left after the purges and gulags will, at best, live as serfs on the Leftist plantation.

That is the truth. They are after ultimate and absolute power. Had Hillary won, we’d be living through that reality right now - but I firmly believe that God chose (the very imperfect) Donald Trump for the task of fighting these evil bastards and winning. He is the perfect person for the job at this point in time.

If (or, more likely, when) the Dems win control of the entire Congress and the WH at some point in the future (may it be sometime in the 22nd Century, please), that will be the last election. Everyone needs a Plan B if that happens...and Plan B can encompass many different reactions to a country that is suddenly turned into a dictatorship. But have your own Plan B - your life and the lives of your family may literally depend on it.

This is why socialists must actually be destroyed.

Law is just a weapon for them. If the law works for them its settled, the world will end if it goes away. If the law doent get them victory they find courts to shoot it down, or actively scheme ilegally against the law - ex. National popular vote scheme - or they find any way to trash the spirit of a law to use it or ignore it.

They are liars, evil scheming hypocrite people. They need to be destroyed. They do not change.

Republican “leadership” makes the excuses. Plenty out of power regular republican reps and senators want what the republican uniparty leadership says cant be done.

Check out Article III. Congress/President could reduce the entire Federal Court system to John Roberts sitting at a card table with a candle.

If Dems win Congress and POTUS in 2020 the Court will be packed. RBG and Breyer will retire and then I expect legislation to increse the number of justices to equal the number of Appellate Courts, 13. This would bring the ratio to an unbeatable 8 to 5 for Progs. Game set match. Or as the Germans might say; alles todt, alles kaput, das ende !

Like the House, appoint 435 Supreme Court Justices.

Ir would take 50 years to undo.

FDR tried it but was unsuccessful but I cannot remember how his attempt was defeated.

Opposition to FDR’s unconstitutional power grab was lead by Indiana U.S. Representative Samuel B. Pettingill (D), who stated at the time, “A packed jury, a packed court and stuffed ballot box are all on the same moral plane. This is more power than a good man should want, or a bad man should have.”
