PATRICK MOORE: SHOULDN'T WE CELEBRATE CARBON DIOXIDE?
The GWPF ^ | 10/15/15 | Patrick Moore

Posted on 02/23/2019 7:17:01 AM PST by Libloather

**SNIP**

You heard it here. “Human emissions of carbon dioxide have saved life on Earth from inevitable starvation and extinction due to lack of CO2”. To use the analogy of the Atomic Clock, if the Earth were 24 hours old we were at 38 seconds to midnight when we reversed the trend towards the End Times. If that isn’t good news I don’t know what is. You don’t get to stave off Armageddon every day.

I issue a challenge to anyone to provide a compelling argument that counters my analysis of the historical record and the prediction of CO2 starvation based on the 150 million year trend. Ad hominem arguments about “deniers” need not apply. I submit that much of society has been collectively misled into believing that global CO2 and temperature are too high when the opposite is true for both. Does anyone deny that below 150 ppm CO2 that plants will die? Does anyone deny that the Earth has been in a 50 million-year cooling period and that this Pleistocene Ice Age is one of the coldest periods in the history of the planet?

If we assume human emissions have to date added some 200 billion tons of CO2 to the atmosphere, even if we ceased using fossil fuels today we have already bought another 5 million years for life on earth. But we will not stop using fossil fuels to power our civilization so it is likely that we can forestall plant starvation for lack of CO2 by at least 65 million years. Even when the fossil fuels have become scarce we have the quadrillion tons of carbon in carbonaceous rocks, which we can transform into lime and CO2 for the manufacture of cement. And we already know how to do that with solar energy or nuclear energy. This alone, regardless of fossil fuel consumption, will more than offset the loss of CO2 due to calcium carbonate burial in marine sediments. Without a doubt the human species has made it possible to prolong the survival of life on Earth for more than 100 million years. We are not the enemy of nature but its salvation.

To conclude, carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels is the stuff of life, the staff of life, the currency of life, indeed the backbone of life on Earth.

Lots of ammo for the deniers.

Mr. Mercat and I watched a documentary about this volcano. They said it produces more CO2 than all other sources in the world put together.

Then there are all the volcanoes under thew ocean. And we sure as hell don't know where they all are. I believe they just discovered one in the arctic...

Seems it may be melting ice. Like duh....

CO2 is still .0345% of the 1% of the remaining gases in the atmosphere other than the total of the 78% Nitrogen and 21% Oxygen.

Boy, has fake science really fooled the foolable.

Co2 is like food for plants. Boneheaded schemes to take Co2 from the air will result in a smaller amount of plant life.

Fewer plants because of less Co2. This is what nature does - it always tries to establish a balance.

Approx 1,000 years ago a group of Vikings sailed west and landed on a large island that was warm, lush and green.

That island?

The Vikings named it, “Greenland”...and it was MUCH warmer then than now.

I think I still have linked in my profile a study/review of CO2 trends, which have been heading downwards ever since the earth formed. According to the authors of that paper, life will go extinct sometime in the next 100 million to billion years due to CO2 depletion.

Without CO2, there is no life.

Efforts to remove CO2 from the atmosphere are quite literally efforts to decrease biomass on earth. Given this fact, we must then ask, what is the true agenda of those who promote the anthropogenic global warming narrative?

Yes, but the only thing that exceeds Man’s stupidity is Man’s dishonesty.

Actually no: Patrick Moore (born 1947) is a businessman, nuclear lobbyist, environmental consultant and former president of Greenpeace Canada.

After leaving Greenpeace, Moore has criticized the environmental movement for what he sees as scare tactics and disinformation, saying that the environmental movement "abandoned science and logic in favor of emotion and sensationalism"

He is a co-founder of CO2 Coalition, a nonprofit conservative think tank organization in the United States. It was established in 2015 with a focus on advocacy for environmental skepticism of climate change issues, predominantly arguing for the benefits of CO2 to the environment and disputing mainstream scientific opinion on climate change. The organization is viewed as the successor to the George C. Marshall Institute.

The CO2 Coalition was one of over 40 organizations to sign a letter dated May 8, 2017, to president Donald Trump thanking him for his campaign promise to withdraw from the Paris Climate agreement, an action Trump announced 3 weeks later on June 1, 2017.

This has long been a thought of mine. Mankind could, with much sacrifice, reduce its CO2 for a decade, only to have it all rendered moot by one belching volcano.

Yeah, and every plant on Earth eats CO2 up like its nobody's business.

And returns Oxygen to us for our consumption.

Good excuse...err reason to not mow my yard. I’m producing oxygen to support mankind.

The underlying goal of these eco groups and the super wealthy elite is population reduction, drastic reduction to 500 million or 50 million. Science is advance fast enough that it is conceivable that in a few years it will be possible to scrub most of the CO2 from the atmosphere. Worldwide famine would then ensue a while later and population reduction will be accomplished. It will kill the Elite just as surely as it kills off the wretched of the Earth and the middle classes but they think they will be safe and will possess all the wealth of the modern world without having to share it with the billions of the rest. They will find that those billions are necessary to support their wealth. Algorithms and machines will perhaps be able to support them richly but if the machines are that smart the calculations must ensue showing the machines that it will be more efficient without any humans at all.

More likely is that Scientists and their political components well soon be able to truly modify anything they choose about the atmosphere and even geology and will use their abilities to create the Elitists' Utopia before they understand the further ramifications of what they do.
