President Donald Trump suggested that he is ready to ditch his Inauguration Day promise of a Hire American economic policy even though thousands of auto workers are being laid off, millions of Americans do not have jobs, and many millions of Americans cannot get better-paying jobs.
The huge policy shift in favor of employers and investors is emerging after Congress blocked his border wall and his border security reforms, and after the GOP-led Congress passed Trumps tax cut.
It is fair to say that the President is abandoning his Hire American policy, said Mark Krikorian, director of the Center for Immigration Studies.
One of the draft visa-worker expansions is dubbed country caps. It would remove diversity provisions in immigration law to allow employers to offer citizenship to roughly 100,000 Indian outsourcing workers each year if they agree to cheaply replace the American graduates who are now working in well-paid software, accounting, design, engineering, medicine, and education careers. The panel is expected to draft their plan by February 15.
On Wednesday, Trump reaffirmed the pro-migration statement when he was asked by a reporter So, youre changing your policy officially, then? You want more legal immigration?
Trump answered I need people coming in because we need people to run the factories and plants and companies that are moving back in. We need people.
Our unemployment numbers are so low, Trump said.
On February 1, the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed the unemployment rate was at 4 percent. But it also showed that 12.5 million Americans are either unemployed or want to get jobs. In the 1960s, roughly 97 percent of men aged 25 to 54 worked but that percentage dropped to 80 percent in 2009 and was still only at 86.2 percent in December 2018.

How can Indian’s create software when they can’t even properly use public restrooms?
If American educators had been more successful in teaching students the skills necessary to be employed in intellectually demanding jobs we wouldn’t need H1B visas for foreign workers. To fill these jobs with Americans companies would have to offer on the job training programs which I would prefer.
I wonder what's going to happen to all these Indians when the Chinese start replacing THEM.
Forcing employers to provide medical insurance for their employees will go down as one of the most idiotic provisions of ObamaCare.

Asking an American employer to provide on-the-job training after he has already paid a fortune in taxes to “educate” these Americans is pathetic.
I'm confident if you give this policy a year I can readily show you 100,000 unemployed American IT people. It's happened before.

The H1B program has always been about keeping wages down for skilled professionals in Medicine and Engineering by importing cheaper immigrants who are basically indentured servants with no recourse in the American political system.
Executives in large corporations greatly prefer these arrangements to a so-called "free market" in labor. They don't want to pay free market rates and don't want any restraints on disposing of the workers when they are inconvenient.
They rent politicians to write the laws. The politicians get paid to blather on about the "need" for imported workers in order to provide cover for the scam.
I am very unsympathetic. It is clear that voting is not the way to fix this kind of problem.
Better than asking me to have these people move to my country.

These aren’t insults. This is the reality I faced for years as a senior manager in a STEM field. I knew this country was facing a disaster when I looked at those three hypothetical candidates above and found myself asking a third question that was about as pathetic as it gets:
3. Which of the three can write most coherently in the ENGLISH language? “

#2: Total BS comment. There are plenty of STEM graduates from American universities. There would be many more if they knew they didn’t have to compete with foreigners that drive down wages and are racists against Americans.
#3. The American. Indians are TERRIBLE at English.

Yeah yeah.... you aren’t the only person around who has experience in the field.
And again and again, the American company has the replaced employees TRAIN the foreign replacements.
The university I teach at has 30,000 students, mostly STEM degrees. We could easily have 100,000 tomorrow if there wasn’t the drive to hire foreigners.
Indians are known for only hiring Indians. Americans get displaced by these foreigners. Knowing that, we still have 30,000 students, and could fill the classrooms tomorrow if corporations weren’t paying off our politicians, and apparently Trump too, to import foreigners to displace Americans.
It all started with the fast food and minimum wage industries where teenagers were displaced by cheap labor foreigners.

Then Neutron Jack Welch and McKinsey sold the sheep-like, greedy executives on "offshoring."
Microsoft's Brian Valentine declaimed, "Think INDIA ! Two for the price of one!"
And companies expect employees to come in with 10-yrs experience on technologies which have only been around for 3 years.
Indians will play the game and lie about it.
We are reaching a point where even the idea of having a single career is coming to an end. I have conversations with people in the blue-collar side of STEM education who tell me that a traditional college education is eventually going to be replaced with 12-month "micro-degree" programs that will train you for about a 4-5 year career in a job that will eventually be automated.
