I’ve noticed many pundits, in the fallout from the Covington boys vs. the Native American incident, saying that the kids shouldn’t have worn MAGA hats. I’ve seen it said over and over, mainly by people walking back previous vicious comments about the boys and trying to balance it by now saying “well, they shouldn’t have been wearing the hats.”
Others have chimed in, too, for example this member of Congress. I kid you not:

But however many wore them, it’s stunning that we’ve gotten to the point that wearing a hat in support of a president and making America great is considered a provocation to violence and trouble, and something that should not be done.
It is something like telling Jews in France (or anywhere else) not to wear their skullcaps, although of course a religion is different than a political hat. But both are public statements about a belief (or in the case of religious Jews, an identity and a belief). In Europe, that’s what it’s come to:

When civility has broken down and hatred is being fanned, it’s dangerous to wear any symbol that offends anyone.
Wish Trump would do a winter MAGA hat. Something fur-lined, with ear flaps. It’s too durned cold to wear my baseball cap at the moment.

Politics IS religion to the left. And the analogy holds. Wearing a MAGA hat in the USA today is the same as wearing a yarmulke in 1939 Germany.
Except this time, we are armed and won’t let them take them from us.
I will always defend the right to wear MAGA hats. Just not the un-American policies they represent.

Please inform us where we stand legally in the use of a weapon for self defense. If someone assaults me, what can I do with my Smith & Wesson M&P .40C? I know from the Trayvon Martin episode, even when you are getting your head bashed on the sidewalk, shooting your assailant can cause some expensive court costs.
From what I know, I warn them if they continue I will use a fire arm. If they continue, I can shoot. Is that correct?

I’m happy to see more people wearing MAGA hats. I’ve said for a long time if enough people would wear them the rats would scurry back into their holes or mommys basement. It’s past time for the silent majority to stand up and be counted.

I bought 10 on the net for $2. a piece. Shop a little and you can find them cheaper. buy a dozen and pass them to friends to wear.

My car is old enough for me to get away with doing that, but my “colleagues” would generally be more dangerous to me than the general public. I’d have to use a magnetic one, and remember to remove it for the “right” occasions, etc.

Many times, when practicing situational awareness, a key element is not just knowing your surroundings but how YOU look in those surroundings. If I'm at the opera it's quite different from me going to a bar with a pool table. As such, me wearing a suit and tie and nice watch vs a Van Halen concert shirt and jeans will signal much about me to friend and foe alike.
The same situation exists with the open vs concealed carry debate. Why tell the world you're packing heat? Yes, we all get that you have a right to carry and possess arms etc...but it is anyone's business? Further, by showing your firearm, have you "surrendered your position?"
There is a difference between cowering and being prudent. Indeed: why do most people have curtains on their windows? By all means, buy the MAGA hat. But you must realize that by WEARING the MAGA hat or shirt or putting a political bumper sticker on your car, you effectively surrendered your position for a certain sick part of our citizenry. True, you may also attract allies, but my experience is those allies run away in the face of opposition.
I'll keep my powder dry; your mileage may vary.
I almost wish we could pass a law where everyone in the US HAS to wear a MAGA hat. This would be like the time when most in Denmark wore the arm bands that identified them as Jews.
