Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg had two cancerous nodules removed from her left lung Friday at a New York hospital, the Supreme Court announced.
There is no evidence of any remaining disease, says a court spokesperson, nor is there evidence of disease elsewhere in the body.

I can’t imagine how well an 85-YEAR-OLD would come through such a surgery. Can you imagine losing up to half a lung at that age?
To am going to ignore the political aspects to this and say if it were anyone else, they would be resting and recovering with as much stress removed as possible. Instead, she is going to be propped up again in the SC. I find that part of the story rather sad.
Not a problem. The effect is an increase in conservative influence on the court, nonetheless.
Maybe she even survived being aborted, too.
Survival and non-recurrence of the cancer is no doubt possible but the complications of this can very likely do her in within a year. Was “broken rib from a fall” a cover story for this?

As an 86 year old woman,I agree.
I would have refused and let God take me home.
.
I know a guy who is 80 who recently had a lung cancer removed and it’s gone...period. Has to go back once a year for a scan...that’s it.
Don’t get your hopes up.
Even if she is called to the Lord she voted against all through her life, the democrats will say that you can’t nominate a Supreme court Justice in the year before a presidential election.
Lung cancer is fast and usually gone in 6 mos.
Pray for her Salvation.
With an almost empty shell, there are no other body parts left to be diseased.
RIP unborn souls.
Well, well, well...
Someone needs to find out if “fell and broke a rib” was really a cover story. Might not be grounds for removal but would at least show evidence of a dishonest public official serving in the judiciary.
Ditto
My friend had severe lung cancer and was given a year to live. The chemo was really bad but the cancer is in serious remission. He resumed smoking : (
Your dad had LUNG cancer for SEVENTEEN years?? Are you serious? How is that possible? I’m kidding, but I’ve known 7 people who had it who died within a year. Two of them, a female co-worker (who chain smoked) and my neighbor both died within a MONTH after being diagnosed. But I mean talk about being freaked out, there was a time where I thought I was going to get it as it seemed everyone was getting it. My mechanic got it died within a year, same with my friends sisters husband.
I’m kidding = I’m not kidding (I wish Freep would let us edit after posting) arrgh!
“McConnell and Graham are certain to invoke the presidential election year rule”
I believe that rule only applies if the opposing party controls the Senate.
Having read all of these comments in addition to comments on other threads, I have come to the conclusion that Freepers are not a reliable source of medical information, especially from those who have not examined the patient.
