GOP Sen. Ben Sasse (Neb.) said Wednesday night that he urged President Trump to nominate someone other than Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court earlier this year.
"Although I've said many complimentary things about Judge Brett Kavanaugh and his distinguished record
I will say that I urged the president back in June and early July to make a different choice before he announced this nomination," Sasse said during an emotional speech from the Senate floor centering on sexual assault.

I urge Sasse to seek another line of work because he is grossly incompetent as a Senator.
Just like Bush following Reagan who rescued us from Carter, Mike Pence will likely ride the coattails for at least one term after Trump rescues us from Obama.
Shut up, Sasse.
Hopefully Pence does not do anything STOOOOOPID like agree to a Democrat tax increase.
If President Trump didn’t nominate someone with a long Beltway track record like Kavanaugh, I guarantee you these simpering A-holes would have capitulated and refused to support the nominee as soon as Cory Booker decided to change his name to Spartacus.
I think they should just dispense with the committee hearing for any nominee who already sits on a Federal appeals court. If they are good enough for that they’re good enough for SCOUTS. Second set of hearings is nothing but a grandstanding sham. Take them straight to the floor.
Yes, and Sasse is as big a beltway RINO as all the others who wholeheartedly support Judge K and have known him for thirty years.
It’s why I said Sasse is a liar.
Flake 2.0.
Watch this guy beg for Trump’s endorsement in 2020 and retire when he doesn’t get it.
Of course he did. Kavanaugh was NOT the first choice of conservatives. He was, in fact, chosen because he was the SAFEST choice. He was establishment. He was squeaky-clean. He had served for over a decade. He had been through multiple hearings. He had a thousand people vouching for him.
If the democrats could do THIS to BK, there is nobody who was safe.
Gadzooks kemp, I think your on to something there. {:-)
Hillary keeps Big Ben's little Ben in her freezer, along with the rest of his manparts.
She DOES let him drink all the soy smoothies he wants, though...
So what? We don’t care what you, Senator Sasse, urged the President to do earlier this year. That was then. This is now. So shut up.
He told Trump to pick a black transexual wiccan midget, just to immunize him to these kind of tactics by the Democrats!
For 8 years until Trump, we had zilch.
The best we had was all ass and no cattle Gowdy, who IS AS BAD AS HUSSEIN — WORSE, because he pretended to oppose the POS Fraud.
If that someone else wa Amy coney BArrett or his colleague Mike Lee or Lee’s brother, someone of that ilk, then a lot of us here agreed with him.
I suspect that is the kind of candidate he recommended. But he shouldn’t have said that now. A few years from now, it’s one thing (like Cruz saying in a debate that he urged Bush to pick Michael Luttig instead of Roberts), but now is not the time.
I liked his campaign speeches, I hate his performance.
His basis for opposing Kavanaugh could not have been that he suspected Kavanaugh was guilty of sexual assault as a teenager, because no such accusations had been made at the time, so it sounds like Sasse is trying to appear prescient after the fact. A shabby stunt.
“I believe his next nominee will go a LOT smoother.”
I’m sorry, but I’d bet cash against it, with the wounded animals that are the DNC and the anti-American Big Media.
This is the warm-up.
All our domestic enemies know how to do is double down like their god the Fraud taught them.
This guy is Exhibit One in the case for what our real problem is—not the Demoviks (we know them for what they are) but the Repukes.
