Democrats hold a massive voter lead in states that require party registration, a gap of 12 million that could be key to whether the party takes control of the House and Senate in the fall midterm congressional elections, according to a new analysis.
Overall, 40 percent of voters in 31 party registration states are Democrats, 29 percent are Republicans, and 28 percent are independents, according to a new report of July numbers from the University of Virginias Center for Politics. The states include several with key battles over House seats such as California, New York, Florida, and Pennsylvania.
The lead is significant, said Rhodes Cooks analysis in Center Director Larry Sabatos Crystal Ball newsletter, because in the past presidential election the majority party in 24 of the 31 states won, especially among Republican states.
In 2016, Trump won 11 of 12 majority Republican states, and took six of 19 Democratic states, said the analysis.
Of note, some of the states with registered Democrat advantages, like Louisiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia, have been functionally Republican at the presidential level for at least 15 years, said Kyle Kondik, the managing editor of the Crystal Ball.
That could be good news for the Republicans in the upcoming election, a sign that just being majority Democrat does not mean voters are in lock step, said the report which highlighted the growth of independent voters.
But it also noted that as the nation becomes more partisan, declaring party membership is an affirmative political stand.
With the growth in independents, many voters seem to be saying to the two major parties: a pox on both your houses, wrote Cook.
ETC...
In Democratic states, people are reluctant to register Republican, fearing harassment, ridicule, property tax assessment discriminstion, grade discrimination by professors, etc. They read about Republicans getting beat up and get the message.
>>>Democrats hold a massive voter lead in states that require party registration.<<<
Must explain the “missing” States.
So, CA, NY, NJ, MD and ME - all traditional Dem strong holds, account for 9 million of that 11 million lead. All states that voted for Hillary. Not surprised or worried. The Dems are using President Trump as the boogyman to run against. Considering the cycle of US elections, the party out of power often gains in the mid-terms.
Now of concern would be the states that voted for President Trump, but have seen an uptick in Dem party registrations:
FL, KY, LA, NC, PA, WV - collectively they total 85 electoral votes. That would mean 219 solid electoral votes for Trump based on the last election. So 50 electoral votes will need to be “clawed back”.
Not impossible but the GOP / President Trump does have some work to do for the 2020 election.
Well if they included the mostly republican states in this then the difference wold be different, but last I checked we had 5 states, not that I would expect a liberal to understand basic geography, and by a couple of the comments on here I see some did not even notice that not all states were included.
.
But how many of those Dem voters are the “living dead” still voting?
And how many millions of them are Illegal aliens?
.
South Carolina has open primaries which allows Democrats to vote for the Republican of their choice. This is why Flimsey Tinkerbelle Grahamnesty keeps getting reelected.
No registration by party, so no stats, I guess.
My parents did, and many of their friends did as well.
It’s a political thing. They would get the ‘inside scoop’ from party officials thinking they were really of that party.
The Democrat Party is very organized at the local level and very stupid at all levels.....................
The Commiecrats are 8M ahead in CA and NY.
They win the popular vote by 3-5M and wonder why the Electoral votes don't follow.
They're killing it in CA and NY but go look at that red/blue U.S. county map again.
.
The voting dead are a very reliable block!
As are college ‘students’ that vote from Mom’s address, and from their dorm address too.
.
Indeed, and makes this article useless.
How many illegal unaccompanied minors registered?
Yea, I’m in Texas, we don’t have party registration, so they didn’t bother with us. But I did find it interesting that Florida is nearly 50/50...
I wouldn’t doubt it, but I didn’t check out who was missing either.
.
>> “They win the popular vote by 3-5M” <<
All of which are illegal votes.
Vote Fraud Rules!
Oh I have heard college students here in FL brag how they are using their home address to vote, but then use their FL college address to vote here. Just look at Gainsville for instance and that county which is surrounded by red counties minus that.
Now anyone will tell you in Gainsville if it were not for the college students then that county would be republican too.
If illegals registered as Rs, the wall would have been built 20 years ago,
Highly misleading, for one 2/3 of the “lead” comes from just California and New York. Next take a look at West Virginia, Supposedly, democrats have a 11% or 128,641 vote advantage, yet Donald Trump won with 64% of the vote and Republicans control every state and federal office (with the exception of Joe Manchin’s senate seat). The thing is about 1/2 of these “democrats” are people that haven’t voted democrat in the last 20 years but never changed their registration.
I actually thought my state would have more Dems, but alas they do not. Maybe it is the massive growth here in north east FL which has brought more republicans, especially form GA.
With 57% claiming either Repub or Indie status, adding in the "Dems" who vote for Trump, and we've got them 3-or-4 to 1. Suck it up, Libtards. That's what happens when you alienate the vast majority of a nations voters.
You’re not alone, I’m one too.
