None of the four contenders being considered as President Donald Trump's nominee for the Supreme Court has been excluded, but the greatest focus has fallen on two candidates: Brett Kavanaugh and Thomas Hardiman, a source with first-hand knowledge of the process told NBC News.
Kavanaugh sits on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. Hardiman is a judge on the 3rd Circuit of Appeals.
The other two front-runners are Amy Coney Barrett Barrett of the 7th Circuit of Appeals and Raymond Kethledge of the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals.
CNBC reported last week that Trump privately indicated to a small group that he had settled on a nominee to succeed Justice Anthony Kennedy on the Supreme Court, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter.
During the July 4 picnic at the White House, Trump suggested to friends and some external advisors that he had already made up his mind about whom he will pick to join the high court, the person said on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the ongoing deliberations....

In immigration cases, Hardiman has generally affirmed in fairly unremarkable unpublished opinions decisions going against noncitizens.
Greatest focus?
He multitasks.
Have you noticed with every leak a new name pops up?
+++++++++
Sure did. With only 4 real contenders somebody is going to earn bragging rights - even if they just flipped a coin twice to choose their predicted winner.
You cite half a sentence without out a source.
To make a point, you'd need to do better than that.
Not all of the names are terrific: https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2018/06/there_is_something_fishy_about_one_of_trumps_potential_supreme_court_nominees_.html
I sure hope so.
I predict it wont be Stormy D.
Might be a “whack a mole” operation going on.
As long as her record and bearing are reliably conservative, I think the female candidate in the running would be a good choice. It’s time to play a little identity politics ourselves.
I didn't think she was a legit front runner with her lack of bench experience, but the prime time press conference has me thinking. The optics of her, with her big, beautiful family, including two kids adopted from Haiti, a special needs child, and 7 total children, all dressed up is going to win some hearts and minds. Perfect for prime time.
Why would anyone who knows be talking to NBC?
NBC More fake news.
President Trump could play this out like the Evel Live jump last night on History. He could have a couple of Executive Orders to sign, let Sessions go, and announce the Nominee. With sponsors of course!
If the President’s nominee is Amy Coney Barrett, this turns into an election issue for the Senate. Anyone belittling someone based on their religion, or any male questioning a woman is going to affect anyone watching the hearings. Unless Gloria Alred has something on her, she will be tough to vote against before an election.
Ainsley Earhardt On Fox and Friends just described Barrett as extreme, extreme right ... Pete Hegseth jumped right in and said something like if shes extreme, extreme right then so am I
Nonsense reporting as usual. They don’t know a damn thing.
