A progressive Democrat in New York who called Israel’s killing of violent Palestinian protesters on the Gaza border a “massacre” scored a major upset over incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley in a contentious party primary.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, 28, defeated Crowley, 56, by a margin of 58-42 percent in Tuesday’s election, toppling a lawmaker who was viewed as the successor to Rep. Nancy Pelosi as speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Ocasio-Cortez belongs to the Democratic Socialists of America and is a supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders, a Vermont Independent who ran as a Democrat in the 2016 presidential primaries. New York’s 14th District, which comprises parts of Queens and the Bronx, is overwhelmingly Democrat.
She tweeted on May 14, the day more than 60 Palestinian protesters participating in the “March of Return” were killed on the border with Gaza: “This is a massacre. I hope my peers have the moral courage to call it such. No state or entity is absolved of mass shootings of protesters. There is no justification. Palestinian people deserve basic human dignity, as anyone else. Democrats can’t be silent about this anymore.” …

After she graduated from BU back in 2011 (media says “economics and international relations”), the only job she seemed able to get was that of waitress/bartender. Her start in politics was as an intern for Ted Kennedy.
The elites in other authoritarian countries also send their children out West for schooling. Xi Jinping’s daughter went to Harvard. Putin never appears with his children, but they live in Holland/the West, and foreign minister Lavrov’s daughter attended Columbia Univ. Same principle applies to the oligarch families even as they tout anti-Americanism and former glories of USSR to the masses.
The point is not communism being in full practice, but the historical revisionism, which subjugates the memory of people into denial about its catastrophic consequences and bloodshed — and subjects survivors to historical amnesia. You can face fines, exile, and even imprisonment for insulting the State-sanctioned and approved narratives about history. Especially in schools.

I know one thing: the way things are going the USA has an interest in protecting Kim Jong Un against rebels in NK who would destroy the de-nuclearization process.
What he and his sister really think about the world we may never know, but Kim’s association with Dennis Rodman suggests that Kim was waiting for the right opportunity to make the shift to a modern State.

The Koreans are highly intelligent and they know how to hustle. Unfortunately like Americans, they have a tendency to permit the oligarchs and government to gain the upper hand and destroy life for the average citizen.
South Korea came off a big presidential scandal recently. We are still in the midst of solving our own massive conspiracy and sedition at the highest levels of our government.
I take heart that one of the biggest crony capitalist US firms, General Electric, is getting hammered in the marketplace and was recently removed from the Dow Jones Industrials.
With regard to South Korea, I trust its current govt far less than last year’s ousted president.
North Korea will remain complicated mainly because the governments of its bordering countries are so connniving and untrustworthy. (China, Russia, et al.)

As hard as it is to believe, they did once, in New York City, after General Dinkins, the then-mayor, DID NOTHING to help the Jews who were being pummeled during the Crown Heights riots. The Jews had enough and threw their support (and money) to Rudy, which was the ONLY REASON that he won.

The Dad was born in Jamaica and I see no schooling of him in the US till 1966 when he is supposed to have received his doctorate at Berkeley.
But Kamala was born in 1964. Was he a US citizen at the time?
