Cynthia Nixon took heat Monday from black leaders over her comments that creating a legalized pot industry in New York could serve as a form of reparations in black communities.
Nixon on Saturday told Forbes magazine "now that cannabis is exploding as an industry, we have to make sure that those communities that have been harmed and devastated by marijuana arrests get the first shot at this industry."
"We (must) prioritize them in terms of licenses. It's a form of reparations."
The comments came under fire from some community leaders.

Someday the rants and true disposition of condescending liberals like Cynthia Nixon will help the black community finally realize how badly they have been hurt by the Democratic Party.
I’m black and I’ve been saying this for years. It’s sort of too late now, but I was thinking of it as analogous to how tribes in some places have a monopoly on gambling.

What she misses is that legalizing pot will eliminate the market for “inner city” pot dealers, transferring it to legitimate store fronts, probably owned by Asians.
Let’s face it, where do you think a suburbanite wanting to get some pot would prefer to go? Some seedy urban neighborhood? Or be able to just get a bag at his local liquor store?

NYC is a cesspool. ...................... It was once the melting pot of the nation. People actually got along with each other. Yes there were neighborhoods that were ethnically populated or divided, but there were no riots or demands for anything. You could walk the streets without being harmed in any of the neighborhoods. Just like today, well they tell me that things are better now than they were in the 50’s and 60’s. Of course most who tell me that weren’t around at the time. LOL, we went from unlocked doors to 4 locks and bared windows, but its better now, right? We had major drug problems back then, aspirins went up to 59 cents a bottle.
Come on ... whites have their privilege and inner city feral blacks have their dime bags ... real equality.
Nixon has a paternalistic view of black people like so many wealthy white liberals do. Such an asinine statement, but hardly shocking from the likes of her.
Whites are already put at the back of every line by affirmative action.
