The WHO had a “high-level” (ooooh, sounds ominous) meeting to perpetrate a new snowflake panic event - fear of the unknown. That’s all I got out of it.

Something like the 1918 flu could easily take out 5-10% depending on lethality. Not enough ventilators and hospittal beds exist to prevent it. Modern healthcare would ultimately have minimal impact.
I don’t see pandemic coming from an unknown exotic. Just a genetic twist of the flu can do it any given year.

Once again, we know-nothing amateurs do the work that real journalists refuse to do, i.e., ask pertinent questions and search for facts and evidence. Too often, if a story fits the MSM narrative, they just run with it uncritically.

Regardless of whether Disease X is real, there are plenty of other highly contagious and deadly diseases lurking around the world, and this is one more reason - one of the most important, actually - to control our borders, and it is one that doesn’t get enough attention. I think its a winning argument with pretty much everyone other than the most strident open-borders freaks.

SARS emerged and gave us a view of a major disease that is a significant threat. It was handled quickly and isolated effectively. SARS had the potential to become a serious pandemic with horrific rates of morbidity and mortality.

Right. My husband is a Physicist. Although his doctorate isn’t in Astronomy he did study it at Berkeley, so I get why scientists believe there is a planet there.
The way I understand it, it’s like the definition of “faith” in the Bible, i.e., “the evidence of things not seen.”
