Mom Lynda Cruz paid $50,000 to adopt alleged school shooter Nikolas Cruz from his “drug addict” biological mother when he was just 3 days old, and then dropped another $15,000 on his younger half-brother, Zachary, when she found out the troubled mom was pregnant again, according to a report. “Nik’s biological mother was just a complete screw-up, drug addict and thief,” former friend and neighbor Trish Duvaney told RadarOnline. “I even said to Lynda: ‘You don’t know the mother’s background.’ Both children were born after one-night stands. The birth mother, she didn’t even really know who the two biological fathers were.”
Lynda was about 50 at the time, and she and husband Roger Cruz were struggling to adopt a child because of her relatively advanced age, Duvaney said.
“So she went to a lawyer and did it to where you pay the biological mother’s expenses,” she said. “You’re not directly giving money to the birth mother.”
Lynda ponied up $50,000 to get Nik, now 19, directly from the hospital when he was 3 days old — and another $15,000 to later adopt Zachary, now 18, Radar reported.

The article wants people to assume the children were more or less bought. Paying medical and certain other legit expenses of the birth mother is normal in adoption proceedings. I’d be more interested in knowing whether the infants were screened for FAS.
They had to buy the kids because she was 50 and her husband 62.
And this neighbor almost moved out of the neighborhood because of Cruz.

This really is a sad story for everyone involved. Lots of victims here for a “victimless crime”.
This kid should be a character in “Brave New World.”
I was adopted as a result of an 18 year old girl sleeping with a travelling salesman. So what?
From the article: “Nik displayed signs he was deeply troubled even as a toddler and that “everybody dropped the ball on him.”
“He threw my 4-month-old into the pool. My son was crawling on the back patio and he threw my son into the pool. And Nikolas was only 2 then,” she said.
That explains so much. He’s the baby of an alcoholic / drug addict mom

An Ex-SIL did something similar. She adopted two little girls from a drug-addled, ‘mother.’
Those kids are nutty. Seriously so. :(

Fixed it.
My Dad told me that he went to Basic Training with a big chip on his shoulder.
He said the Drill Sergeants knocked that chip off.
He learned that he was responsible for his actions.
The Drill Sergeants didn’t care if Momma didn’t love you enough.
This murderer is responsible for his actions.
He was the one pulling the trigger, not his Mom or some bully or his ex-girlfriend.
He killed those people.
He planned it and executed it with ruthless efficiency.
Is Cruz afflicted with some kind of syndrome? I swear I’ve seen a kid that looks just like him.
