Mitt Romney will launch his Utah Senate campaign Thursday morning with a low key announcement on social media, and will make his first public appearance a day later near Salt Lake City with a keynote address to a gathering of grassroots Republicans.

All his rival has to do is run Trump’s hearty endorsement of Romney followed by Romney’s hateful debasement of Trump.
I get why sometimes news leaks because it’s a trial balloon to see if it has legs with the public before politicians take a risk (like “administration considering implementing new regulations aimed at ... “ then they run polls on the response of the public). But I will never understand why a guy who is 100% certain to run bothers with leaking that he’s going to say he’s running in a few days. What’s the point?

If Mitt wins. The only election in most of Utah is the primary. There have been Democrat Mormons from Utah, but they are of much diminished numbers today.
So if a primary challenge is not mounted, Mitt would be the next Senator from Utah. Oh, Mitt will SAY conservative buzzwords, be he almost never believes them himself.

Q: When did McCain and Flake tell him about the FISA spying on Trump?
Q: What are your dealings with Harry Reid?
Q: What was the reason for the Jackson Hole meeting in 2015 which included Axelrod?

Romney as governor was the worst sort: a guy who took advantage of a sense among the people that a change was needed and pretended to be a “right of center” candidate to get elected and then governed with guaranteed loser lefty policies, tanking his state and reassuring the electorate that voting for republicans is always a bad idea and hence making sure the state stays blue for another decade or two. Schwartzenegger, Romney: same approach, same results.
I can honestly say I’d rather have U.S. Senator Mitt Romney than U.S. Senator Evan McMullin, and Romney’s running essentially ends the idea of a Senator McMullin in 2019.
He also signed Massqachusetts’ own version of the sun-setted Federal Assault Weapons Ban...in 2004...which we here in MA are still saddled with.

thats a horrible idea for him. people always trash him on facebook which makes him post many pictures of unhappy looking grandkids not wanting to be a part of his political nightmare and many posts of people he knows died in an effort to make a post thats hard to trash him. Any Romney post that is not an obituary (which he only started doing after trashing trump) gets trashed bigly by everyone.
