Democrats have spent weeks making the case that the Russia-Trump probes need to continue, piling on demands for more witnesses and documents. So desperate is the left to keep this Trump cudgel to hand that Senate Intelligence Committee Democrats have moved toward neo- McCarthyism.
If that sounds hyperbolic, consider an email recently disclosed by the Young Turks Network, a progressive YouTube news channel. It’s dated Dec. 19, 2017, and its author is April Doss, senior counsel for the committee’s Democrats, including Vice Chairman Mark Warner.

McCarthy was a patriot.
McCarthy was right.
Communists had infiltrated the US government and he was trying to stop a real threat.
The Democrats, on the other hand, are attempting to overthrow a lawfully elected President. This is not McCarthyism.
McCarthy was an American Hero and Patriot.

Poor Kimberly to equate the democRATS with Joe McCarthy is way out there. McCarthy was a great man who was crucified for his unrelenting task of exposing communists in our government. The MSM, the RATS and his fellow pubbies all had a hand in destroying him. The commies and their sympathizers continue their efforts to destroy us.
I think the correct way to state this would be direct and to the point, "The Democrats are McCarthyist."

I was going to post roughly the same thing. McCarthy was absolutely right about the dangers of communism and the infiltration of communists into the government. The epithet “McCarthyism”was created by communists to discredit him. Read “Witness” for details on how they ran these campaigns.
I suppose the parallel here would be Trump calling out the dangers of a corrupt FBI, CIA, and Democrat Party and the Democrats then running a scare campaign against “Trumpism” and what an evil danger said Trumpism is to the country. So far, the Dems and all the Obama embeds have not run such a campaign to discredit and smear Trump.
Strassel is smart, but she is way off base on this analogy. Now I’ll read her article (if I can find it not behind the WSJ paywall).

McCarthy was, indeed, right. So called McCarthyism just got out of hand. And those tactics are pretty clearly what the left is doing. The author of the op is late to the party.

First, let’s define McCarthyism
Yes, McCarthy was right about the commies in the state dept. But when the term McCarthyism is used (almost exclusively by the left), it refers to untrue allegations, a "witch hunt", etc. So, yes, the Russia investigation is "McCarthyism" as the left defines McCarthyism.
“Have they no shame??”...Oh, never mind.
Because McCarthy was right and got the court rulings that said so.
