Make no mistake. Mitt Romney, should he be elected to the Senate, will be a liberal republican.
He will be a John McCain, an Arlen Specter, a Jim Jeffords, a Susan Collins.
The Establishment's dream! A liberal republican in what would otherwise be a hard-right conservative seat...just like John Mccain.
I think he will be a middle roader and support President Trump’s agenda.
I wonder if Mittens has a background in Scottish law?
I prefer that the seat remain a Mormon cult free zone!!
Is there nobody in Utah?
I suspect he has eyes on 2020.
Er, based on what? The summit he had to destroy Trump?
His outspokenness against him at every turn?
I suspect he will support SOME of President Trump's agenda but will also take opportunities to virtue signal how he is so much more enlightened and principled than Trump by slamming him on other items. He'll be a gadfly and I agree with others that if he thinks he can get traction he'll probably "reluctantly" enter the 2020 primary "for the good of the country".
Here's a fun fact: nobody who runs for President a second time after losing once is doing it for the good of the country. They are doing it because they lust for the power. We'll see if Mitt's one of those types.
Magic Underpants Maverick.
I’m from Massachusetts. I’ve seen Romney in action, running for office and in office. He’ll be no middle of the roader. Remember Lincoln Chafee? That’ll be Mitt Romney.
Conservatives in Utah should find a candidate and rally behind him. However, Romney and the LDS machine may be too difficult to beat.
Myth Romney, supporter of gun control and gay marriage. A Democrat with an ‘R’ next to his name.
Which sounds better, Arlen Romney or Mitt Specter?
Mitt, the Gilded Wonder would continue to be a windbag pain in the ass if elected. Utah can and should do better.
Uh, Orrin Hatch is a Mormon.
Everyone in Utah is. Well, everyone who could win a Senate seat is, at least.
Nope, he will be Harry Reid’s spy working for the DNC.
How about Arlen McRomney or Mitt McSpector or Mitt McGraham or Mitt McFlake or Mitt McCain?
Just so. Romney was responsible for the first legalization of gay marriage, just before he left office in Massachusetts. That was a huge, terrible tipping point. Before then, even the most liberal politicians were worried that the voters would throw them out of office if they openly legalized gay marriage.
Because of Mormonism, there is no way to deny the seat to Romney if he chooses to seize it.
