COLUMBUS, Ohio
Legislation making it a crime for a doctor to perform an abortion if the fetus might have Down syndrome has cleared its final legislative hurdle in Ohio and is headed to the governor.
Several other states have considered similar measures, triggering emotional debate over women's rights, parental love and the trust between doctor and patient.
The bill cleared the Senate in a 20-12 vote Wednesday. It was a priority for the state's largest anti-abortion group, Ohio Right to Life.

It’s awful, but we can’t be confident that our very deranged Gov Kasick will sign this.

Next step...the abortion industry finds a judge appointed by Obama or Clinton...

and if a person is not capable of taking care of such a child? Adoption or foster care? Wanna see how well that works out for a kid with down syndrome?

It sounds like the making of a “Criminal Minds” episode.

Well they should be able to kill that child and sell the parts, of course.

Were there a pre natal test for sexual preference you can bet abortion for a same sex preference outcome would be banned and criminalized.

Down children are some of the most loveable around. I have two grandchildren with Down Syndrome.
People are very mistaken along the way of doing away with them.

I don’t understand the reasoning for singling out Down Syndrome.
It is just as likely to be overturned as a general ban.

A lot of Downs Syndrome folks actually function quite normally as adults especially when they had good early rehab help...many of them are of good average intelligence or can be quite bright. Some, as they grow up to maturity, seem to lose a lot of the identifying physical characteristics and you might not even be able to tell them apart from the normal variant physical characteristics we see amongst human adults. (so we shouldn’t be killing them in the womb!)
