Jerry is in debt up to his eyeballs paying off that new stadium.

I thought the city of Arlington paid for the Stadium and Jones pays a pittance in rent?

“Jerry Jones is just another kneeler. He’s not one of the good guys.”

Every time Jerry Jones name comes up, I think of this pic you posted. Terrible optics. He should have never done this. I don’t care what his explanation is.

“The dumb owners are frying their golden goose in the rancid grease of PeeCee Bee Ess!”

Aren’t these the same scum who wouldn’t let Rush Limbaugh buy into a team? Was it St. Louis?

The Green Bay Packers won the 1966 World Championship.

As the budget for the stadium ballooned from $650 million to more than $1.1.
billion, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has had to come up with the money to pay.
for the cost overruns.

Don’t sell the team. Shut it down. No more Dallas cowboys. That would mean no more NFL. He can take it as a loss on his taxes.

OK, and your point????

I said the Vikings won the last championship before the merge.

Maybe this year they will win the last Super Bowl before its demise.

That would be fitting

The last year before the Super Bowl was 1966, the Packers won that one and the first Superbowl in 1967.

It’s not the case

Arlington owns the stadium

Jones rents it for 500,000 a year

They the city....sold 30 years bonds to finance it and are paying it off via various tax hits mostly via restaurants and lodging and car rentals

And they are very ahead of schedule

Paraphrasing the old Steve Jobs line about Gil Amelio

"The NFL is like a ship with a giant hole in the bottom, leaking water, and it's Roger Goodell's job to make sure it's pointed in the right direction."

I think he is talking about the last NFL championship before the leagues merged. The 1966 championship was pre-Super Bowl era. When the Super Bowls started, there were still two separate leagues and no inter-league play. In 1970, the NFL and AFL merged into one league with two conferences. The last NFL championship before that merge is what he is referring to.

Not only Lockhart, but the players association is led by one of Obie’s old buddies. Name escapes, but his agenda is poison.

For once, I agree with Jerry Jones. Under Goodell’s “leadership,” the NFL brand has been badly tarnished, if not permanently damaged—largely because Goodell and some of the owners openly sided with protesting players, many of whom had no idea why they were taking a knee, or how infuriating their display was to the vast majority of Americans.

And in his scramble for “labor peace,” Goodell forgot about the folks who pay the bills—the fans. We’re voting with our feet, our wallets and our remotes. Photos of half-empty stadiums and cratering TV ratings don’t lie. Many fans have written off the league, and more than a few will never return.

Meanwhile, the NFL’s TV deals are coming up for renewal, and with ratings in the tank, the networks and cable channels won’t offer the huge deals of the past. In fact, there’s a very good chance ESPN won’t be able to afford a renewal of Monday Night Football and the Thursday night games are endangered as well.

For the leadership that has put the NFL in this position, Goodell wants $50 million a year and lifetime use of private jets. Apparently, Jerry has told him to pound sand and if the other owners had any sense, they would do the same. In fact, I’m still mystified as to why the NFL owners haven’t followed Major League Baseball’s “Selig” model and appointed one of their own as commissioner. I’m quite sure Jerry would volunteer for the job, and it’s hard to envision him doing a worse job that Goodell.

For the record, I’m a life-long Giants fan, suffering through a truly embarrassing season. I have no affection for the Cowboys and little for Jerry Jones, but in this case he’s absolutely correct. As for the G-men, it would be nice if we could fire the Mara/Tisch ownership team at the end of the season, along with the GM and head coach.

Time to start a new league.

Time to dissolve an old league.

Or go back to a league with 16 teams in 2 eight team divisions with a single playoff game played in early December.

Jerry, sell the team while you can still make a profit and walk away.

Jerry Jones is at no personal financial risk. Even if the team bankrupts he still has his own millions.
