Jerry Jones could be forced to sell Cowboys as angry NFL owners protect Roger Goodell

This might not be how it was supposed to go.

After a tumultuous year of protests, sinking ratings and ticket sales for the NFL, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was prepared to act.

Last week, news that Jones had threatened to sue NFL commission Roger Goodell rocked the political and sports world. Jones had been extremely critical over many of Goodell’s decisions, and was vocal over this mishandling of the players’ protests during the national anthem.

Jones decided to put his money where his mouth is, and hired an attorney in an attempt to stop negotiations for Goodell’s lucrative contract renewal.

But Jones is feeling pushback in a major way and has angered some of his fellow NFL owners, to the point where they are reportedly thinking of removing Jones from the league, Pro Football Talk reported.

On that topic, I had a complete LOL moment when I read someone’s alleged “scoop” that the Gators were seriously considering The Chipster.

The timing is somewhat suspicious, after the Ezekiel Elliott suspension.
However, it's amazing to me that the owners don't see that they're on the precipice of disaster. Seems like the majority of their T.V. ads are PSAs with wrestlers telling them to spend time with their kids and ads for the network's shows.
Fantasy football is just a fad, and they've hooked their wagon to that horse.
Concussions, the flood of soccer loving foreigners, and their obvious pandering to women are all changing the game from one people loved into something unrecognizable. All thanks to Roger Goodell.

He threatened to sue them all for enacting a contract he voted to approve. It’s not really protecting Goodell at this point, it’s protecting themselves. Jones needs to grow up, yeah his player got suspended, yeah maybe it’s an overreach from the commish, but I didn’t see him (or Bob Kraft) throwing hissy fits when Brady got hit last year.

If someone offers him present inflated values for the Cowboys, Jones should take it. The NFL is a big short, IMHO

The dumb owners are frying their golden goose in the rancid grease of PeeCee Bee Ess!

Not only do I no longer watch NFL, I don’t even check the scores any more. Tis sad. Suicide is the rotten fruit of PeeCee.

Going from “feeling pushback” to being forced to sell is a major stretch. He’s not selling. This is just trying to get clicks. Jones is by far the most powerful owner in the league. Kraft is #2.

“Progressives always circle the wagons. Conservative, OTOH, well I think we don’t wan to go there.”

Yeh, first, if the Compensation Committee should be stupid enough to force Jerry to sell, it would blow up the NFL. There would be civil war amongst the owners for sure. Who knows how this would play out? Besides, the Cowboys are now the highest valued pro sports team in the world. Thereby, Jerry could put a price on the Cowboys that would be so high that there may not be any bidders who could/would touch it. And, if Jerry should be forced to sell and a new owner was found Goddell would in effect “own the league” - which the owners would rue the day they caused this happen. I predict that ain’t nothing gonna happen. Goodell, will probably get his juicy contract but he will be damaged goods from that point forward...

I don’t think so. The NFL is a multi billion dollar enterprise. They can take a ratings hit, lose a few hundred million at most and move on.

The empty stadium trend predates Kaepernick. Even colleges are having trouble selling football tickets because every game is on TV now.

Now that progressives have control of an American Instition like the NFL they won’t give it up. Ever. Goodell is merely their well paid pawn. And for that he won’t be getting fired.

From the linked article.....

Jones decided to put his money where his mouth is, and hired an attorney in an attempt to stop negotiations for Goodell’s lucrative contract renewal.

RENEWAL contract - NOT current contract.

Oh, and Jones isn't the one who needs to grow up. The lefty players, Goodell and the NFL are.

The NFL can go to hell, let this be the last season ever.

As long as my Vikings wins the Super Bowl as the only team to ever do so at home this year.

It would be fitting. The Vikings are the last team to win the Old NFL championship before it was dissolved to join the AFL to created the league which is the Super Bowl era.

I doubt it. Look how fast the red state Texans owner caved. Blue state NFL owners certainly won’t side with Jones. Besides, I doubt the “compensation committee” can make Jones sell. What will happen is the other owners will marginalize Jones and move on with the progressive agenda.

The NFL owners are scared of their players and the ad buyers are all progressive corportists. Owners like Khan in Jacksonville crave positive media attention and they know they will get it by being PC.

We’re not going to win this fight. Sorry.
