Washington (CNN) A federal grand jury in Washington, DC, on Friday approved the first charges in the investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller, according to sources briefed on the matter. The charges are still sealed under orders from a federal judge.
Plans were prepared Friday for anyone charged to be taken into custody as soon as Monday, the sources said.
It is unclear what the charges are. A spokesman for the special counsel's office declined to comment.
Mueller was appointed in May to lead the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Under the regulations governing special counsel investigations, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who has oversight over the Russia investigation, would have been made aware of any charges before they were taken before the grand jury for approval, according to people familiar with the matter.
On Friday, top lawyers who are helping to lead the Mueller probe, including veteran prosecutor Andrew Weissmann, were seen entering the court room at the DC federal court where the grand jury meets to hear testimony in the Russia investigation.
Reporters present saw a flurry of activity at the grand jury room, but officials made no announcements.

Mueller is authorized to investigate "any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation," according to Rosenstein's order.
The special counsel's investigation has focused on potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, as well as obstruction of justice by the President, who might have tried to impede the investigation.
CNN reported that investigators are scrutinizing Trump and his associates' financial ties to Russia. Mueller's team has also examined foreign lobbying conducted by former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, former national security adviser Michael Flynn, and others. His team has issued subpoenas for documents and testimony to a handful of figures...

Who is “combover”?
On Larry Schweikart’s twitter page he has all his nicknames explained. Combover is Comey. :-)
Chances of Comey 1%, chances of Manafort 75%. Imho
What info to The Hill?
But not in a good way. He WILL find a crime Trump committed.
If you’re looking HARD enough for a crime, you’ll find one.
And the RINOs will gladly impeach Trump.
Mccain? Graham? MicConnell? A few others. They’ll vote against Trump.
I hope the house gets to vote on impeachment.
And since i’m not sure if it’s a majority vote or 2/3rds I might be way off.
Wouldn’t be the first time :)
Here's Larry Schweikart (FR's own LS) twitter page, with his nicknames listed at the top:

Yep
OK,tks.
<1% on Comey. Manafort 50%. Trump kids 50%. The kids will get swept up by not reporting contacts, perjury, etc.
A couple of journalists at The Hill were given info, IIRC, about the uranium stuff. Too much news to retain...
I believe “Combover” is Larry’s nickname for James Comey. He posts here as Freeper “LS” and has had some very intriguing insight into this story in recent months.
One of the Trump kids.
If Comey is indicted, then Boente, who served with Comey, might be needed as a witness, and hence would have to resign from Mueller’s team.
Libs going psycho on twitter like they just won something.
Can anyone recommend a good pitchfork sharpener?
House can impeach with a simple majority vote. The Senate needs a 2/3 vote to convict.

LMAO it is NOT @GenFlynn
Boente resignation could be witness related to comey. But it could be obstruction over his firing..etc...or against comey.
Bigger chances it is obstruction.
Excellent point, but I’m confused. If Boente is a witness then wouldn’t he be required to step down BEFORE the case was presented to the grand jury?
