If Comey is indicted, then Boente, who served with Comey, might be needed as a witness, and hence would have to resign from Mueller’s team.

Boente resignation could be witness related to comey. But it could be obstruction over his firing..etc...or against comey.
Bigger chances it is obstruction.

Excellent point, but I’m confused. If Boente is a witness then wouldn’t he be required to step down BEFORE the case was presented to the grand jury?

Hard to believe that Mueller has had enough time to indict Comey. It takes months to build a case, hence the most likely appears to be Manafort or Flynn. The indictments will have nothing to do with collusion and more violations of law having to do with disclosure, reporting of income, or perjury.
I can recall Flynn offering to testify before Congress in return for immunity.
