We know, to the best of our senses and instruments, that the universe exists. How did it come into reality 13.8 billion years ago? In other words, what caused the Big Bang?
Roughly speaking, there are two possibilities: nothing caused the universe to come into being or something triggered it into existence.

You mention some awkward “great attractor”- my reference to the “curtain” is from the Wizard of Oz- some thing behind the scene pulling the strings of a charade.
Where did your “great attractor” come from? Is that an origins term from some source? ( I see it is not)
Were we not talking about origins?
I am interested. I am looking at a web search of the topic now...., and all I find is it is some collection “million of billions” of suns worth of mass some “150 million LY away”.... Okay, I not worried a bit. Gravity always sucks, and the sense of the subject is that it is either pulling “everything” towards it or in an ellipse like any other mass.
An interesting factoid to be sure.
I retract my cyclic reasoning comment.
It is just an anomaly that we don’t know much about, like the my fish bowl comment few post earlier.
“I think this author may have been playing with us but it was an interesting article.”
I keep thinking God is playing with us. We are one of his entertainment. He’s created us and a set of realities (problems and dilemmas) for us to deal with and he’s enjoying watching how we silly humans deal with them.
You got to admit that if you were an observer looking down on our goings on, it would be quite amusing.
or maybe this particular universe is governed by the physics & time that God arranged for it's existence. There may be other universi existing under different rules of physics & time, also arranged by God.
I have always sort of thought of it that way .. except I think it is much more serious. One thought I have had is that this life is a test to see if we are suited for heaven.
That would be God.
Sounds like conjecture as no one has actually seen or verified what the GA actually is or is not.
The intense singularity accretion reached critical mass and exploded
But physical laws, like Einsteins, are supposed to happen outside of our knowledge. The tree falls in the forest whether we are there to observe it or not.
Several have responded intelligently to you, so far without your acquiescence, to my knowledge. Sometimes, we need to hear things in different ways before the answer clicks for us, so I'll offer this.
We live inside a cause-and-effect universe, where we have never experienced anything else, nor will we. It leads us to conclude that everything must be that way.
But God, as the Creator of this universe, necessarily lives outside it and its requirement for cause. Indeed, He invented causation as an integral part of our environment. In fact, He is uncaused--there must be a First Cause. Our minds rebel at this idea, not because it is irrational--it is not--but only because of our limited experience.
Its amusing how the so-called big bang is spoken of as settled science; fact.
As soon as it was perceived by the Ego the illusion appeared real.
(Just kidding, boss!) :-)
that’s what i figure, too
Someday you will stand before that illusion and have to give an accounting of your life.
Wrong.
Both big media (ex, History Channel) and public schools routinely refer to this ‘event’ as the big bang, the vast majority of the time conveniently omitting the theory part.
It is spoken about in a cavalier manner as if there’s no question as to the validity at all. The word ‘theory’ is rarely mentioned, and when it is it’s downplayed so only those who truly think for themselves catch on.
You know, or you should know, this is done intentionally, much as other lies like global warming and other liberal nonsense meant to control the masses.
And you know, or should know, the mindless Common Core indoctrinated youth cannot think critically for the most part, and will lazily accept what their told. And guess what? Most of them do accept it as fact.
Therefore, Sparky, you are incorrect.
Nice try anyway.
my answer, exactly
You’re right, I was wrong. Just as the theory of gravity remains a theory, what it attempts to explain (gravity) remains a fact.
Fred Hoyle proposed the Steady State theory in the 30s, which was refuted in the 60s by the discovery of cosmic background radiation. Theory gave way to fact.
The BBT fits the facts whereas steady-state did not. And the facts point to a big bang. Nothing in science is settled 100%, but the big bang is the way to bet.
I’m sure it has been said on before...
The world came into existence because God spoke the Word: let there be light.
“In the beginning, the Word was with God and the Word WAS God... and the Word was made Flesh and dwelt among us.”
This is why Jesus says “heaven and earth will pass away but My Words will never pass away”.... the Word is God, and is eternal.
Esoteric for some, but to those with faith, it is wisdom and understanding.
Ahh.. was it Democrats? /s
