Sebastian Gorka is resigning his post as Deputy Assistant to President Trump, multiple sources familiar with the situation have told The Federalist.
In a blunt resignation letter, the national security and counterterrorism expert expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of the Trump administration. [G]iven recent events, it is clear to me that forces that do not support the MAGA promise are for now ascendant within the White House, Gorka wrote. As a result, the best and most effective way I can support you, Mr. President, is from outside the Peoples House.
Gorkas letter expressed unhappiness with the direction the Trump administrations foreign policy has taken, as signaled by the presidents recent speech on Afghanistan:
Regrettably, outside of yourself, the individuals who most embodied and represented the policies that will Make America Great Again, have been internally countered, systematically removed, or undermined in recent months. This was made patently obvious as I read the text of your speech on Afghanistan this week
The fact that those who drafted and approved the speech removed any mention of Radical Islam or radical Islamic terrorism proves that a crucial element of your presidential campaign has been lost
Just as worrying, when discussing our future actions in the region, the speech listed operational objectives without ever defining the strategic victory conditions we are fighting for. This omission should seriously disturb any national security professional, and any American who is unsatisfied with the last 16 years of disastrous policy decisions which have led to thousands of Americans killed and trillions of taxpayer dollars spent in ways that have not brought security or victory.
During his time in the Trump administration, Gorka focused on issues such as countering the Muslim Brotherhood, the crisis in Qatar, drafting a new long-term national security strategy, and combatting Chinas economic warfare. Before coming to the White House, Gorka was an editor for national security affairs for Breitbart News, where he worked with Steve Bannon, who also recently departed the administration.
Gorkas tenure at the White House was marked by unusually vociferous attacks against him and his family by left-leaning media organizations and the Democratic Party. This includes personal attacks against his wife, mother, and son.
A source close to the White House said of his decision, This was more or less going to be a done deal when Bannon submitted his resignation. Not because he didnt have a protector, but because there is no point in having your life ruined every day if youre not going to get much accomplished. The same source said that what did change after Bannon left was that anti-Bannon factions began erecting bureaucratic road blocks to undermine Gorka internally.
The Forward has written dozens of attack pieces against Gorka, including several attempting to align him with Nazism. Most recently that publication retracted a story about his sons schoolwork. Gorka strenuously objected to allegations he had ties to Nazi groups in his familys home country of Hungary, where he had previously been involved in national politics. Even detractors eventually acknowledged the Nazi accusations were unfair smears.
In his letter, Gorka made clear that he believes in the promise of the Trump presidency despite being concerned about its present direction.
Your presidency will prove to be one of the most significant events in modern American politics. November the 8th was the result of decades during which the political and media elites felt that they knew better than the people who elect them into office. They do not, and the MAGA platform allowed their voices to be heard, he wrote, adding, Millions of people believe in, and have chosen, you and your vision of Making America Great Again. They will help eventually rebalance this temporary reality.

As Tucker Carlson said, most of the people in Trump’s White House would fit in in a Clinton or Bush White House.
I have no room to clutch pearls. I’m still clutching my guns and bible, thank you.
yes. i too have a liberal son in law and daughter and would be VERY hesitant about employing them. they are bernie-bots
Has anyone seen Steve Miller?
Schiff is a traitor. Straight up.
No- this thread is over the top ridiculous. Just like the liberals say every day ‘Well, THIS is finally the end of Trump’, every time something happens that people on FR don’t like they sound just like him. This is the end, I’m done with Trump, the world is over, etc... It hasn’t happened yet- so why don’t you can it?
Yes they are. Trump is becoming increasingly isolated. At the point that he is weak enough, the Uniparty/deep state swamp will move against him. It may be Mueller. It may be another false outrage, Nazi fire storm, or whatever. He will be approached and told he needs to resign or else.
Good grief have you listened to any of Ivanka’s feminist, liberal thoughts and goals? She cries and her brother says Trump decides to act on her wishes. Go home and spend time with your own children, Ivanka and not push your liberal, big government agenda.
I'm with you...this resignation along with other recent firings and resignations at the very least signal instability, chaos...at least the optics.
Not sure what's going on, but this seems pretty odd.
So, the conservatives should stay there, stay quiet and be tokens used when we complain about policy? The swamp-dwellers will point to all the conservatives and say they are here. The fact that they have no voice is not discussed.
Gorka did the right thing. Now we know the swamp is fighting back and Trump is the only one who can fix the ship or it can sink into the swamp.

The Javanka hit team is ultimately above Kelley (despite the title he holds) and as such they are the prime movers in all this turmoil.
The smarmy smug couple are the last sounding board before DJT makes a move, hiring, firing, speech etc. Their views are what prevails over MAGA and over DJT’s personal views and his common sense. They are Blood which he cannot leave out, nor get rid of.
In the end with Javanka in power, it will be a miracle if DJT actually gets any of his MAGA agenda passed with any meaningful long term result.
We did not elect them, but we are stuck with them and their half-baked liberal ideals as national policy. McMasters, Kelly, Tillerson, et al, are their puppets. Their slight of hand trick: ‘look at them not us, we love DJT and have nothing to do with anything somehow. Nothing to see, move along, its their fault etc.’
He insists on MAGA zealotry with no deviation allowed from his view.
Pragmatism is to him intolerable
You stayed in your bunker I stayed on the battle field.

No big troop bukldul in Afghan.
NORKs backed down w/o war
ISIS crushed.
Now, if this is McMaster/Jared “winning” then we ought to all be praying for more McMaster.
BTW, word is Gorka had a gun issue that was preventing him from getting the proper clearances, but I don’t have more detakls.
OUTED!
Good to know.
Gorka reportedly had a clearance issue.
Bannon was never going to stay long. He joked about never leaving but anyone who knew him knew that wasn’t true.
McMaster fired a guy who went outside of chain of command.
You guys WANTED Priebus & Spicer gone. You got your wish.
Personally, I don’t think Trump is bothered by reductions in staff. It plays to his flexibility and maneuverability.
Well, ... bye.

Not really. Trump is following a more traditional GOP foreign policy and the Savage/Buchanan armchair isolationist wing of the GOP base are squealing like stuck pigs. POTUS can only fight so many political nuclear wars at once and I’ve always thought foreign policy would be one area he would put on the backburner.
