Breaking: Sebastian Gorka Resigns From Trump Administration
The Federalist ^ | 08/25/2017 | Mollie Hemingway

Posted on 08/25/2017 5:22:00 PM PDT by gubamyster

Sebastian Gorka is resigning his post as Deputy Assistant to President Trump, multiple sources familiar with the situation have told The Federalist.

In a blunt resignation letter, the national security and counterterrorism expert expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of the Trump administration. “[G]iven recent events, it is clear to me that forces that do not support the MAGA promise are – for now – ascendant within the White House,” Gorka wrote. “As a result, the best and most effective way I can support you, Mr. President, is from outside the People’s House.”

Gorka’s letter expressed unhappiness with the direction the Trump administration’s foreign policy has taken, as signaled by the president’s recent speech on Afghanistan:

“Regrettably, outside of yourself, the individuals who most embodied and represented the policies that will ‘Make America Great Again,’ have been internally countered, systematically removed, or undermined in recent months. This was made patently obvious as I read the text of your speech on Afghanistan this week…

“The fact that those who drafted and approved the speech removed any mention of Radical Islam or radical Islamic terrorism proves that a crucial element of your presidential campaign has been lost…

“Just as worrying, when discussing our future actions in the region, the speech listed operational objectives without ever defining the strategic victory conditions we are fighting for. This omission should seriously disturb any national security professional, and any American who is unsatisfied with the last 16 years of disastrous policy decisions which have led to thousands of Americans killed and trillions of taxpayer dollars spent in ways that have not brought security or victory.”

During his time in the Trump administration, Gorka focused on issues such as countering the Muslim Brotherhood, the crisis in Qatar, drafting a new long-term national security strategy, and combatting China’s economic warfare. Before coming to the White House, Gorka was an editor for national security affairs for Breitbart News, where he worked with Steve Bannon, who also recently departed the administration.

Gorka’s tenure at the White House was marked by unusually vociferous attacks against him and his family by left-leaning media organizations and the Democratic Party. This includes personal attacks against his wife, mother, and son.

A source close to the White House said of his decision, “This was more or less going to be a done deal when Bannon submitted his resignation. Not because he didn’t have a protector, but because there is no point in having your life ruined every day if you’re not going to get much accomplished.” The same source said that what did change after Bannon left was that anti-Bannon factions began erecting bureaucratic road blocks to undermine Gorka internally.

The Forward has written dozens of attack pieces against Gorka, including several attempting to align him with Nazism. Most recently that publication retracted a story about his son’s schoolwork. Gorka strenuously objected to allegations he had ties to Nazi groups in his family’s home country of Hungary, where he had previously been involved in national politics. Even detractors eventually acknowledged the Nazi accusations were unfair smears.

In his letter, Gorka made clear that he believes in the promise of the Trump presidency despite being concerned about its present direction.

“Your presidency will prove to be one of the most significant events in modern American politics. November the 8th was the result of decades during which the political and media elites felt that they knew better than the people who elect them into office. They do not, and the MAGA platform allowed their voices to be heard,” he wrote, adding, “Millions of people believe in, and have chosen, you and your vision of Making America Great Again. They will help eventually rebalance this temporary reality.”

Nonsense.

Everyone here knows the score...if Trump fails, the country fails, we fail.

I hope no one here is thinking the Republican Party will some how benefit if Trump fails?

The GOP cannot save us.

The GOP is dead.

Conservatives out, Moslem-appeasing globalists in.

Should’ve figured this odious state of affairs would happen.

When then quit, then I have no respect for them.

There’s a way to counter this, should of been done a real long time ago, the longer you wait, the worse the odds.

I doubt it. It will be surprising if any new blinders are taken off.

Nothing to say. So far beyond silly I can’t comment. You must think you elected an empty suit.

Lar, President Trump is no empty suit, but the truth is, one man is one man.

To run a government you must have many people, all working for the same goal as the leader.

The fact is we have lost too many people who think as the POTUS does, and in their place, are people who think and work at cross purposes to the POTUS.

We, his base, are alarmed. One lost subordinate, two, three or five .... fine. But it seems as though it has become all of them. Now he is surrounded with ideological enemies.

How can this possibly work, how can it be beneficial to the goals we elected President Trump to accomplish?

The reality is, his base is alarmed. I'm one of the very first Trump supporters on Free Republic. I'm alarmed. You know me well to know I have been steadfast, and no Fainting Nelly am I.

But there is a time when quantity (of the losses) becomes it's own quality.

Trump is going to bring in Karl Rove to replace Gorka.

Gorka has been one of my favorite people to see face the "media", or to go on various talk shows.   He has been one of my favorites among Trump's staff picks, and one of the most helpful and reliable and "quick on his feet".

That said, has anyone raised the possibility that someone in the White House discovered incontrovertible proof that Gorka himself was a/the leaker?

(I don't believe he was, and I would be shocked if that turned out to be the case, but while we're discussing this abrupt and unexpected departure here, we should probably include that scenario in the field of possibilities for the cause for this jarring loss, albeit a highly improbable one.)

This is deeply disturbing to me. The handwriting was on the wall when Bannon was edged out of the WH by the Kelly/McMaster cabal, and that Gorka would be next. I suspect Gorka was being isolated by them and Gorka knew his days were numbered, so he preempted them and resigned. He and his foreign policy views were being forced out and he knew it.

Bannon and Gorka are cut from the same cloth. Gorka will either go back to Breitbart where he previously worked with Bannon, or he will end up on Fox Cable as he was an extremely popular commentator when he appeared on TV, in particular on Hannity’s show.

If Miller and Conway end up out of the WH too, kiss the original MAGA viewpoint within the WH goodbye. The inmates will then be running the asylum. That Trump has allowed these departures to occur is troubling to say the least. Who is now pulling his strings that it has come to this? The Eastern Seaboard elites and the army generals are now in the ascendancy and that in itself is frightening. President Trump, what is happening to you?

They are most likely being forced to resign or have lost so much access and influence with the president that they feel they can achieve more working outside the administration.

Let’s see if Kelly fires him. I highly doubt it.

Kelly(or Trump)won't fire Cohn because the Stock Market would tank on the news. Goldman Sachs has run the US Government for the past 25 years - and they evidently still do.

More troops to Afghanistan. Rattle sabers at N. Korea and Venezuela. Now, raise the debt ceiling, print more money, and Make Goldman Sachs Great Again.

“I KNOW that WE elected someone who was NOT up to it!”

Yeah, ok. Nice drama queen meltdown.

Most people on FR dont know what, if anything, this guy has been influential in being involved with.

A week ago, everyone acted like Bannon was basically president, which was BS. Now this guy gets his two days as the assumed mastermind behind everything Trump said and did...because reasons.

In a week when they get Trump doing something they agree with, they will forget this guy ever existed, or will just attribute the decision to (insert name here).
