I’m not saying the driver has no fault, of course, but braking and also being assaulted may go to his state of mind and intentions.... I haven’t studied all the photo and videos, but a driver’s panic reaction to a violent mob would be a different matter, both morally and legally, than a premeditated driving attack as it’s usually being described.

I was looking for skid marks in all the videos. The only ones I saw were when he backed up. He didnt lock up the brakes going forward anywhere that I could find.

If that’s true, then there is no way he will be convicted of anything worse than involuntary manslaughter.
He started speeding towards a dense crowd of people from a point on the street where there were very few people, none of whom were paying attention to him, with a near empty intersection directly behind him and a totally empty street on the other side of the intersection.
Where was the cause for panic?
Ah, but don’t forget that his trial will be for show only, as it is already predetermined that he was a white supremacist looking to run over as many peaceful anti-racist protesters as he could.

His attorney ought to request change of venue, if he (or she)is halfway competent. He will likely get an incompetent PD.
