Andrea Mitchell: “I don’t know if there are cases” of whites hurt by affirmative action
Legal Insurrection ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Yesterday, we noted the left’s freak-out over the news that the Justice Department will be investigating race-based discrimination in college and university admissions.

The freak-out was on full display on Andrea Mitchell’s MSNBC show yesterday. You knew the fix was in from Mitchell’s choice as guests of two critics of the initiative: the Washington Post‘s Jonathan Capehart, and Janai Nelson of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund.

The most outrageous moments came when Mitchell said: “I don’t know if there are cases, even” of white students being disadvantaged by minority students taking available slots.

There are certainly cases of ‘affirmative action’ promotions causing failure to the person being promoted above their abilities.

From memory: Bakke v. University of California c. 1975. White applicant to UCSF Medical School won in Supreme Court based on having scores and grades better than any non-white applicant for the class. His attorney, Reynold Colvin from San Francisco, famously pointed out to the Court that “I’m a country boy lawyer, but even in the country there is right and wrong.” Colvin was no more a country boy than Perry Mason but like Mason he won.

Angrier Mitchell should get outside her circles a little more often! Just last year a white, FEMALE sued UT-Austin for allowing those with lower grade scores to get in, because of their RACE - I would say that she was hurt by affirmative action!

A few years ago, a similar suit was raised over similar affirmative action in Wisconsin or Michigan. Does she just refuse to admit that these worthwhile, overly-qualified students were not hurt because of affirmative action quotas and rules?

Talk about living in a bubble. Ask any dean of a medical, dental, engineering or law school in this country behind closed doors and I’m sure every single one will tell you of unqualified black or Hispanic students who have or are currently attending their schools.

That’s because she’s willfully ignorant.

Guess Andrea Mitchell doesn’t know how the quota requirement program works.

She’s an idiot. But affirmative action is nothing but giving rich blacks more money. It never gives the kid in the ghetto a leg up.

Hey Andrea, I’m white, and I’ve been hurt by affirmative action - the affirmative action that allowed you to be hired to spew your leftist, liberal crap on TV all day long...

Andrea only knows what she sees on MSNBC, CNN, or reads on the Huffpost and DemocRATic Underground.

I guess dear Andrea Mitchell has never been to a Law Library. If there wasn’t reverse discrimination, then there would not be case law on the subject.

I wrote a paper in MBA School on the difference between Affirmative Action and reverse Discrimination and used decided case law to show what you can and cannot do in your affirmative action program. Did a class presentation to a racial mixed class in Atlanta. Got many compliments from all.

LOL, I was one. I was in a Detroit HS JROTC program, the department was allowed to nominate one individual for a possible West Point appointment, came down to me and a Black Guy. He got the nod. And 3 weeks later flunked out of school.

She’s older than dirt and she hasn’t heard of the Bakke case ?

The reason the whole concept of "Diversity" was created is that the left realized that at some point, given equal opportunity, logic would indicate that the system should be strictly merit based. So schools that automatically rejected whites with a certain SAT score and automatically accepted certain minorities with the same score would have an excuse to continue their discrimination.

Andrea dear; you’re going to be replaced by the one on the left in the photo. It’s diversity, you know.

My cousin’s grandson had the highest grades in his undergrad Pre-Med classes at UW-Milwaukee. Yet he has been having a difficult time being admitted to a Med school.

The problem? He’s is white and he is a male.

“Andrea Mitchell: “I don’t know if there are cases” of whites hurt by affirmative action”

Because the number of slots in ivy league schools is unlimited and the blacks who are admitted with SAT scores of 1000 are just as intelligent and qualified as non-blacks with SAT scores of 1600.

Andrea has obviously never worked in a government office. My mother worked at the SSA for years and saw reverse discrimination several times when it came to promotions.

A relative of mine worked for a state agency as a clerical worker. She retired early, several decades ago, because she couldn't deal with the harassment by the increasingly dominant black women.

I have a dream that my four little chi1dren will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the boxes they checked on a form but by the content of their academic record.
