An influential German institute has studied thousands of article published by daily newspapers during the refugee crisis. Their conclusion: journalists lost their objectivity and drove a wedge through society.
As hundreds of thousands of refugees arrived in Germany in 2015 and early 2016, daily newspapers took on the role of public educators rather than objective critics of public policy, a team of researchers at the Otto Brenner Institute conclude, according to a report in Die Zeit this week.
The researchers, led by former Die Zeit editor Michael Haller, studied thousands of articles published between February 2015 and March 2016 by leading daily newspapers, including Bild, Die Welt, the Süddeutsche Zeitung and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
The report, which will be published on Monday, criticizes the so-called mainstream media for lining up behind Chancellor Angela Merkels open-door refugee policies, and for uncritically taking on the slogans of the political elite.
Journalists used the slogan Willkommenskultur (welcoming culture) to put moral pressure on citizens to contribute to the cause of supporting refugees, the study finds.
People who criticized the government policy were treated by journalists as suspect and potentially racist. At the same time, the newspapers saw it as their role to educate such people on becoming better human beings, the study argues.
Most journalists failed in their job as someone who is supposed to objectively explain the world to readers, Haller told Die Zeit.

What??!
the msm failed to report accurately?
misled people
No. Really.
There are also rumors that the situation of the Eastern Front is not quite as good as they say.
All over the Western world, the MSM gets taken over by intellectuals who live in a closed world in which the agenda they see in their imagination becomes the reality, and actual reality is something to be wished away.
The ordinary people who have to pay the price because they’re not inside the intellectual’s little false-reality bubble are seen as an acceptable level of collateral damage, unfortunate but necessary to get to an imaginary future of multicultural peace and sustainable harmony.
Well DUH....
You don't say...my oh my.
The MSM is populated by the products of the communist controlled universities, where the faculties never set foot in the real world themselves. They lived all their lives in a false utopian academic bubble, and what they turn out are replicas of themselves to populate another generation of faculty, the staffers of government agencies, and news reporters. They occasionally “dabble” in contact with the real world, but only as necessary and in a clinically warped way that reinforces rather than alters the conceived notions.
I will bet that not one of them ever had to do a month of real work on a concrete crew, or work the floor of a factory or steel mill. Nor do they really know anything about the people who do. But these academicians, bureaucrats and newsreporters know what is best for them, and they don’t mind telling you.
And I'm sure that all they'll return to Manhattan with is a confirmation that the flyover world is populated by knuckle-dragging Neanderthals who need to be led to the light by their social and intellectual betters.
Every word is so true. Great post.
If they want to circumvent their own lying liberal MSM, they better start developing their own Freie Republik websites or FuchsNews TV networks (yes, “fox” is “fuchs” in German; I didn’t make that up).
Gee Germany.. "sorry about your luck".. but at least you KNOW who to blame for the situation you've been infected with.
German media failed to report refugee crisis honestly, study findsThey probably feared being arrested and imprisoned by Merkel for
Journalists work for Globalists.
“Public Intellectual”. Is actually neither. They lack the rigor of honest analysis and massage opinion for whatever is the declared flavor of the month.
