Published on Aug 13, 2016 WikiLeaks' Assange - TPP Not Only Trade, 83% Is Fascists Controlling Our Daily Lives - Once We're In, We're Stuck Forever
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange knows more about the contents of the TPP than most members of Congress and is doing much more to inform the American public than any of our so-called representatives with the lone exception of Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL). He has no restrictions other than his politically-motivated confinement to the Ecuadorian Embassy in London on his freedom to disclose the truth to the world and he is sounding the alarm.
Assange described it in a Democracy Now interview as being not formally classified but being treated as if it is classified in terms of how the information is being managed. He says, It is very well-guarded from the press and the majority of people and even from Congressman, but 600 U.S. companies are part of the process and have been given access to various parts of the TPP.
He continues, Its the largest ever international economic treaty that has ever been negotiated. Very, considerably larger than NAFTA, it is mostly not about trade. Only five of the twenty-nine chapters are about traditional trade. The others are about regulating the Internet. Internet service providers have to collect information; they have to hand it over to companies under certain circumstances. Its about regulating labor, what labor conditions can be applied, regulating whether you can favor a local industry, regulating the hospital health care system, privatization of hospitals.
Essentially every aspect of the modern economy, says Assange, even banking services, are in the TPP. So that is erecting and embedding a new, ultra-modern neo-liberal structure in U.S. law and in the laws of the other countries that are participating.
Assange notes that because it is in a treaty form, it is very very hard to overturn, requiring agreement of the other nations involved. He gives examples of how this will most certainly be abused if its approved and points out that the enhanced ability to sue and intimidate governments only applies to the large, multinational corporations. Corporations owned and operated solely within the United States are at a disadvantage in that regard to the unconstitutional advantages provide to the multinationals.
He addresses the chilling effect of intimidation and the wide ranging impact it will have as a result of threatened lawsuits, from the prospect of the legal expenses alone.
This treaty is the antithesis of what America is built upon. Its no surprise that the global Marxist Obama is its greatest champion. What is surprising is that Republicans are his most vocal and ardent cheerleaders.
Theres a stench rising from the McConnell / Boehner Congress. Thats what treason smells like. _______________________________________________________
Cruz, Mr. Constitution, helped Obama move it forward.
Yes except for Jeff Sessions and maybe, maybe one or two others, they are all Uniparty whores.
Correct... Time to repeal the 17th amendment
When Wikileaks first showed up on the scene, during the war, everyone wanted to dump Assange in a barrel of acid. Some of the video he put out there was eventually proven to have been manipulated. However...
Without him and Snowden, we wouldn’t know shit right now. If I occupied the WH on January 21, 2017, he and Snowden would get a free pass from me.
Clinton and obama have cause far more damage and caused more deaths than anything these two guys “might” be responsible for.
You mean like Obamacare?
Regardless of Assange's credibility, I'm glad we're getting a glimpse of the secret deals to sell out the US citizens. I rather doubt that Assange & company is creating these documents, although they could certainly censor or alter them (kinda like the MSM).
The vote is the same as Corker....the TPA fast-tracked TPP.
Do you question Assange’s claim that Wikileaks has a perfect record of authenticating everything that they’ve published?
This guy is tough to figure out.
I’ve read that he’s P.O.ed at Hill cuz she wants to extradite him and the interviews I watched of him make him seem sincere.
But does he have an alternative motive? We don’t have clue. He could be a great man or a scum bag.
Wait,see,and pray.
TPP is not a treaty, it like NAFTA is an “agreement” and can be passed by a simple majority in the House and Senate. I’m betting it passes in a lame duck session just like NAFTA did.
Whether they pass it as an agreement or decide to use it as the basis for a treaty, they cannot approve it legislatively without publishing it. I will never have to rely upon Assange to determine whether I like it or dislike it.
Based on my reading (from Swedish newspapers at the time of the accusations)....I would say that Assange was on some “hiding-tour” where different people were giving him a week in their house or apartment in order to “protect” him. They all believed in his crusade.
Some Swedes (not those on the accusing side)...described his behavior like some secret-agent or James Bond-style misfit. Women were attracted to him in some way.
The fairness angle hasn’t been explored enough. I do think if you lined up all the Swedish women that he enjoyed the company of.....prior to these two women in the accusation area....there would be more than a dozen ladies who didn’t think it was rape. That could play into the court case. But at the rate of things....I think he will be in the embassy for another year or two.
Course, I also think that Trump will say that there are no hard feelings and they won’t go after him....so he might step out of the embassy by Feb of next year and face what the Swede court might dish out.
I have been hoping that Trump will create and maintain a great deal of distance between himself and Putin. I am happy to see that he has lately been distancing himself.
Hillary now is against TPP - http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/aug/11/hillary-clinton-vows-to-kill-trans-pacific-partner/
H3llary removed 40 pages from her hardcover book on her support of the TPP so that people buying the paperback wouldn’t know of her support.
Do the emails he’s exposed really lead you to believe that the governments of the world are interested in justice and truth? I’d say the guy is acting as if he believes that the crap he’s been exposing is for real. Same thing with Snowden. When are the rank-and-file people (who have very little skin in the game compared to those they try to armchair quarterback...) ever going to truly understand just what a corrupt mess the whole system is?
——there are better sources of information for me-—
Perhaps you can name one that categorizes the various parts of the agreement and give some detail of the category contents. I don’t recall much other than it os really bad or it is really good.
Well...... where’s the beef?
Your sources are dishonest and untrustworthy. I want no part of people like that. I'll never be that desperate.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating
He is providing a feast for all of us to partake
According to Assange, not one of the million-plus documents that he’s released has been shown to be faked or altered in any way. I haven’t seen anyone dispute that assertion, so I’m asking you if you are, and if so, can you cite to something to back that up.
I'm not saying that you shouldn't depend upon or associate with liars. I'm just saying that I won't have anything to do with him. He's all yours.
