Following the terror attack in Orlando, the dominant media/political narrative turned to gun control and now-discredited claims of the suspect's mental illness (claims which included gay-baiting).
Now, one controversial former FBI agent -- and current consultant to the Obama administration on "countering violent extremism" (CVE) -- is suggesting a national gun registry be created. Such a registry would target millions of law-abiding American citizens.
Gamal Abdel-Hafiz, born in Cairo, immigrated to the U.S. in 1990. He recently retired from the FBI after 22 turbulent years at the bureau. Following the Orlando attack, Abdel-Hafiz explained his rationale for creating a national gun registry:
A former FBI counter-terrorism agent says lawmakers could make mass murders less likely. "What we need to do is keep the ownership of guns known to the government, so we know who has what," said security consultant Gamal Abdel-Hafiz. “And I know a lot of people are against that.”

Okay.....leaving aside for a moment the fact that it’s blatantly unconstitutional.....from the purely practical perspective....
Canada, using the same cretins and dweebs from CGI who screwed-up the Obamacare website, with a population 1/10 our size, tried to build a gun registry for 15 years and TOTALLY FAILED. A new government repealed the law before the registry website ever got out of beta testing.
What makes this clown think he can do any better?

Since any given MUSLIM is far more likely to commit a crime, than any given firearm is likely to be USED in a crime, why don’t we register Muslims, not guns???

All I see is problems.
There is a silver lining here. At least, he didn’t go to his office and shoot it up, as did Nidal Hasan. But, he should have been fired in 2002. I still don’t know how he emigrated to the US in 1990 and got a job with the FBI in 1994 that required a security clearance. Only political appointees get clearances like that.
How about just a registry of Muslims.
