Ryan: Whether to support Trump or not is up to delegates
Washington Examiner ^ | June 19, 2016 | John Siciliano

House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., says he has no influence over Republican convention delegates' decisions on whether to change their minds about supporting Donald Trump.

Ryan, who endorsed Trump earlier this month, is the convention's chairman. But he told NBC's "Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd, "It is not my job to tell delegates to do, what not to do, or to weigh in on things like that. They write the rules. They make their decisions."

Asked for his opinion on the matter, Ryan said, "My opinion is not relevant here."

Trump reaffirmed Sunday that he can win the presidency whether the Republican Party gets behind his candidacy or not.

Ryan’s an idiot. Here he had the chance to move past his image as Mitt Romney’s vice president and actually do something positive. Instead he doubles down on being a dope. Hard to understand how these guys get so stupid. It’s like their minds deteriorate once they’re in power. That or they’re possessed by evil spirits. This nonsense about them denying Trump the nomination is just hot air. What are the delegates going to do, just pick some random loser to run? I don’t think so. What’s really a shame is how little respect they have for the voters. They should respect the voters as a matter of principle and honor. Apparently they have neither. Shame.

Who is that smirking Muslim next to the President?

Is that really a smirk or has Ryan discovered the remainder of Boehner's Booze Stash?
He looks like he's been hitting the bottle to me.

It was just amazing how many posters on this site gave Cruz credit for Boehner’s resignation. Haven’t heard as much from these same posters lately.

The GOP might as well pack their bags if they pull sh$t on Trump at the pending convention, stopping his nomination. First, they WILL lose the election and second there will be a revolution by Trump supporters like this country has never seen and believe me, it will not be a pretty sight. People are already pissed off at the lack luster/non-existence performance by the entire republican party, blocking Trump’s possibility of becoming POTUS will be over the top. There WILL BE hell to pay.

Indeed. To think I was happy at the time Romney made him VP. He agrees more with Hillary on issues than Trump!

Hillary Clinton will be elected President.

And you better believe if she is, that JR and FReerepublic
and freepers in general will come under extreme scrutiny.
We must not lose this election.

Exactly. If that’s what The Party thinks then why didn’t they just do a Colorado/no election thing in every state? Jeb! would be our nominee right now.

?For our Wisconsin FReepers in the Ryan district or if you know ANYONE who lives in the district, VOTE NEHLEN! Cantor this guy!”...

Believe me as a Wisconsin resident, I definitely have that in my plan. Ryan should and hopefully will be a bad memory.

I just checked the dictionary:

delegate: a person sent or authorized to represent others, in particular an elected representative sent to a conference.

This is bizarre and will cause CW2 if this were to happen. If they can't function as DELEGATES, they should stay home and be replaced by an alternate.

How can Trump have this turd Ryan removed from the convention chair. I don’t think he can since the program calls for the Speaker to be the chair.

Trump for President.

I agree with you, but I think Ryan agrees more with Hillary on issues, is a key player in the establishment, and has 2020 in his sights. I think Ryan wants Trump to lose so he can run in 2020.

Ryan.

Couldn’t even vest Slow Joe in a debate.

He’s all playing it cool here, pretending to be neutral.

But it will backfire if they try.

All you Trump supporters need to grow a spine and some confidence. You guys are like scared rabbits.

If they open up the delegates that means Cruz, Rubio and Kasich delegates can vote for Trump.

If they do this Trump will win with an even bigger majority.

You all sound like a bunch of snowflakes, quaking in your boots over
Paul Ryan.

Worthless, evil, back-stabbing, Anti-American, Judas, whose wife works from and is in the pocket of Saudi Arabia!

Establishment, RINO Ryan cares more about illegal aliens and murderous Muslims than he does AMERICAN CITIZENS. I hope and pray he loses his primary eection and us voted out of office

I had posted earlier that I thought Boehner would have been better than Ryan, but I’m doubtful. Apparently he voted for John Kasich and disagrees with Trump on the same things Ryan does. Ryan has been friends with Boehner for many years. Two peas in a pod. The new boss is the same as the old boss.
