Let's Reconsider Condoleezza Rice for Trump's VP
6/11/2016 | nikos1121

Posted on 06/11/2016 12:53:16 PM PDT by nikos1121

Today, Donald Trump floated Condi Rice's name as a potential VP running mate. He did it in a clever way. He asked the audience to shout out names.

From my TV I couldn't hear but he repeated the names Newt Guingrich, Jeff Sessions and Condi Rice. Only three.

I've always believed that if her entire story were made known, Condoleezza Rice would be a perfect role model for young Americans of all background and an inspiration to all adult Americans of color. I personally find her to be one of the most remarkable Americans to have served in high office.

Her story is uplifting and her achievements are far reaching. If Trump is looking for a world class success story, she has it in Condi Rice, and being VP would be just the ticket to remarkable biography thus far.

The press and her opponents have mislead us on her positions on several issues. For example, please do not make any commentary about her stance on abortion unless you fully read her statements on this issue below. They are not what you think.

Please take some time and read some of her biography by googling her. Here are some salient facts that I've put together.

-Born in Birmingham, AL and grew up in Tuscaloosa when the South was racially segregated.

-A trace of her ancestors go before the civil war found that they were sharecroppers

-Her DNA finds her to be 51% African, 40% European, and 9% Asian or Native American genetic descent, while her mtDNA is traced back to the Tikar people of Cameroon.

-She took music, French, ballet and figure skating lessons at the age of three.

-Her family moved to Colorado in 1967.

-She entered the University of Denver initially as a music major, then switched to political science after taking a course by Josef Korbeb, Madeleine Albright's father.

-She was a Phi Beta Kappa scholar and graduated cum laude with a BA in Political Science at the age of 19.

-She obtained her Master's Degree in Political Science in 1975 at Notre Dame.

-She obtained her Ph.D in Political Science at age 26 at the University of Denver, in Josef Korbel's College of International Studies.

-She worked briefly in the Carter administration.

-She attended Moscow State University where she took classes in Russian.

-Rice was a Democrat until 1982, when she changed her political affiliation to Republican, in part because she disagreed with the foreign policy of Democratic President Jimmy Carter.

-Her father was a life long republican.

-She served in Bush, Sr administration as an expert in Russian affairs.

-National Security Advisor and later Secretary State under George Bush.

-An accomplished pianist who has played with the Denver Symphony and YoYo Ma.

-She speaks French, Russian, German and Spanish.

-She has 11 Honorary Doctorate Degrees.

-One of the first two women who are members of Augusta National Golf Club

-Rice has appeared four times on the Time 100, Time magazine's list of the world's 100 most influential people.

(From Wikipedia)

Rice was eight when her schoolmate Denise McNair, aged 11, was killed in the bombing of the primarily black Sixteenth Street Baptist Church by white supremacists on September 15, 1963. Rice has commented upon that moment in her life:

I remember the bombing of that Sunday School at 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham in 1963. I did not see it happen, but I heard it happen, and I felt it happen, just a few blocks away at my father's church. It is a sound that I will never forget, that will forever reverberate in my ears. That bomb took the lives of four young girls, including my friend and playmate, Denise McNair. The crime was calculated to suck the hope out of young lives, bury their aspirations. But those fears were not propelled forward, those terrorists failed.

— Condoleezza Rice, Commencement 2004, Vanderbilt University, May 13, 2004

On The Second Amendment

Rice states that growing up during racial segregation taught her determination against adversity, and the need to be "twice as good" as non-minorities.

Segregation also hardened her stance on the right to bear arms; Rice has said in interviews that if gun registration had been mandatory, her father's weapons would have been confiscated by Birmingham's segregationist director of public safety, Bull Connor. leaving them defenseless against Ku Klux Klan nightriders.

On Abortion

Rice said If you go back to 2000 when I helped the president in the campaign. I said that I was, in effect, kind of libertarian on this issue. And meaning by that, that I have been concerned about a government role in this issue. I am a strong proponent of parental choice—of parental notification. I am a strong proponent of a ban on late-term abortion. These are all things that I think unite people and I think that that's where we should be. I've called myself at times mildly pro-choice. She would not want the federal government forcing its views on one side or the other.

Rice said she believes President Bush has been in exactly the right place on abortion, which is we have to respect the culture of life and we have to try and bring people to have respect for it and make this as rare a circumstance as possible. I am concerned about a government role and agree with those who do not favor federal funding for abortion, because I believe that those who hold a strong moral view on the other side should not be forced to fund the procedure.

Condoleezza Rice has indicated that she is not interested in serving as Trump's VP, but I can't help but think that he already knows that she is an example of a person who has succeeded against all odds.

She would be a welcome addition to the ticket. She speaks profoundly. She would shut up the Hillary Clinton, Mitt Romney et al on Trump being racist.

She could bring more people than ever before of color to our party.

Here are some thoughts from others within the last two weeks:

-Giuliani: Says Kasich and Condi would make great VP picks for Trump

-Fox's Guilfoyle Floats Condi Rice As Potential Trump VP Pick

I think she would temper Trump's rhetoric and bring some instant sophistication to the campaign. I think she would probably do it under some agreement that he tone down his rhetoric or that she does not need to agree with him on all issues or with what he says.

Here is a woman who is obviously more qualified to be president than Hillary Clinton, and it will be obvious to everyone. Everyone.

Lastly, she has more Indian Blood in her than Goofy Elizabeth.

She and MAlania would enjoy each others company I believe. But is she too far into the nation building of the Bush doctrine?

The point of Trump is to get as far away from the disastrous Bush years as possible.

Trump would be so lucky to have her, and he knows it. Those who think otherwise, come up with anyone, anywhere, better!!!!!

Congressman Duncan Hunter of California. Is unabashedly pro-Trump, supports Trump's policies, strong on defense, military combat veteran, he's got more integrity in his little finger than ConArtist Rice has in her entire affirmative-action GWB-appointed body.

You’re the one who couldn’t answer the question on her “Conservative credentials” and proceeded to boast you didn’t need to “know anything else” about her.

You can’t simultaneously indignantly demand information (which is open knowledge) while proudly feigning ignorance of her record. You’re the one that needs to answer the question here about her record, “put up or shut up.”

Look up her positions on abortion, open borders, anti-Israel, across the board. She’s an Establishment liberal elitist who proliferated the failed Bush Doctrine on foreign policy. She may LOOK the part of being Vice-Presidential, elegant and classy on the outside, but her positions on the issues are vile. She also likely voted for Zero along with backstabbing weasel Colin Powell.

See my post #27, time for YOU to “put up or shut up”, Rice was an integral part of the disaster that was the GWB-RINO regime, she was (and remains) a suck up to Obama, and those two facts alone disqualify her for ANY role in a Trump Administration, be it VP or White House Cafeteria Hostess.

I suspect you probably saw one or two photos of Rice in those black leather boots and lost your everlovin’ mind, but that’s still no excuse to want that establishment Bushie back in the White House.

There’s some confusion with respect to Hunter... WHICH Hunter ? Some people are mixing up the father and son. They don’t know Duncan, Sr. has retired from office.

True enough, I’m referring to the son, the current office holder, the fact that his Dad is likewise a solid conservative, and one of the original Reagan Revolutionaries who came to Washington in 1980 is a plus in my book.

If Condi could secure the election of Trump, the I’m all in for Condi.

There would be some serious globalist liberal baggage there though.

HE’S PICKED HER FOLKS...GET USED TO IT.

Picking Rice would be a real shot in the foot. I'd lose all respect for him if he did, but I cannot believe he would. I can't even believe you're serious.

He might as well pick Jeb Bush. Trump doesn't want to discuss the Bush years or the Bush policies.

I think Trump is having trouble attracting a decent VP candidate because of the push back from #nevertrump.

I think Condi Rice is a great VP candidate. Black, successfull, indeterminate sexual preference makes me believe she’s a lesbian.

But she was trained to be an expert in U.S and Russia affairs and Trump does want to make nice with Russia.

It’s a nice pick in a lot of ways. Biggest flaw IMHO is that she has the stink of the Bush failure in Iraq all over her. But she’s certainly qualified to take over for him if need be, and I can’t imagine that she doesn’t move some key demogragraphics on the margins.

Politically Condi is an excellent choice. She solves almost all his problems and balances the ticket famously. I’m not sure she would accept the challenge. We shall see in about a month.

Ms. Rice has said many times in the past she has no desire to be the President... I would assume the same would be said for VP... but I would completely support her if she did...

Imagine her in he shi#$ kicking boots taking on Pants Suit or Pocahantas... hahaha

she is a refined, gentle, gracious human being, and we need a pair of loud mouthed, bullying, politically incorrect, plain spoken, take-no-quarter, street fighters

Yep. Nor can I imagine that refined, gracious being, with her noticeably quavery voice, in a v-p debate with a 'rat selected by Hillary Clinton.

NO WAY!

She was a disaster. She tried to micromanage Israel’s responses to attacks and had no idea what she was doing.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Additionally, she has ever been elected to a political office. Likely, she was one of those who wanted to be on the side of history and voted for Obama twice.

OK. I thought Sr. would make a great Defense Secretary.

BTW, Homeland Security ought to be abolished and folded under Defense where it belongs. Homeland is just another superfluous department bringing with it more bureaucracy.
