Were you set for the weekend? It is Memorial Day: Another government-sanctioned three-day holiday wonder that enables Americans to forget the reason for the holiday honoring our war dead, those who lost their lives fighting in defense of their country and for freedom and liberty for our allies and concentrate on getting out of town for picnics, barbecues and sports.
So, patriotic thoughts or not, I hope the holiday and picnic gear was packed in the van or camper, there was a full tank of gas and everyone was set to go
Oh, except this year theres something else that were advised to have with us: a gun.
Yes, you heard me right. Depending on where you intend to celebrate the weekend, its suggested that you have a weapon at hand. And, of course, that means that you know how to use it.
In a major announcement, Arizona Sheriff Paul Babeu put out the word that anyone planning to hike, camp or just drive through and enjoy the back roads in the southwestern areas of Pinal County should be packing heat.

P.S. If you stumble on to some coyotes or narco traffickers in the SW deserts, you may be outgunned.
My thought on travel, if by car, is to not go where reciprocity isn’t given. For me here in Georgia where my WCL is, that means I don’t go to South Carolina if that is a personal option. All the other surrounding states have reciprocity.
Very good advice and we absolutely agree with it. Train, train, train on top of it! Have a safe time everyone!
My county and my Sheriff.
Damn I am gonna miss him, since he is stepping down to run for Congress.
As for the drug smuggling?
Again, Babeu is right. I have found their garbage piles close to my home. Old clothes, tooth paste tubes, carpet slippers and other junk discarded where they met up with their transportation to Phoenix. Then because the Federals and ACLU’s nuetering of MCSO Sheriff Arpaio, from Phoenix, they are home free to head oun out to your home town.
That is SO racist!
...unless you're a minority....
That state's approach to "reciprocity" has always puzzled me, especially when compared to the rest of the South. Fortunately, I haven't had to make the choice you have since my travels haven't taken me there since out-processing from the Army at Ft. Jackson in 1981.
Good for her. When we moved from FL to NV, we were more than a little “packin’”. I made sure the route we took would more than likely keep us out of any possible issues. Had we been stopped for some reason and the trunk emptied............... LOL!
I think a white 40 year old woman with a gun permit is in the minority, so she OK. Right?
LOL! We went north before heading west, but not that far north.
I carry mine, yesterday out for a mix of 4-wheeling and hiking. Only lingering concern is that state line with California, just a few miles away. Always got to watch that a mountain road or trail doesn’t wander across.
Hopefully one day, our so-called government “representatives” will put forward a mandate that all states “shall comply” with a concealed carry reciprocity law.
Yes. I’m very bummed out that corporations and homosexual marriage licenses are recognized nationally, but not my CHP.
LOL! Roger that. It’s within’ spittin’ distance and I sure don’t want to get involved in any Cali imposed infringements. When we go to the lake, we gotta be careful to NOT cross the ‘line’.
Especially if she identifies as an on duty authorized Marine.
Since MEMORIAL DAY might just run anathema to the backward minds of those poor, misguided, downtrodden, Mohammedans being shipped into this nation of mine, goodgawdallmightyYES carry a firearm, open if it is in your state, concealed if it is not!!
Even hen it's racist because you're "acting white"
My understanding is fed law allows taking firearm thru non reciprocity state IF firearm is in locked case, separate from ammo and not accessible to those in vehicle...ie in trunk.
Think this is the Fed law on Interstate travel with firearms...

Thank you. I understand what the minutae are with regard to the specifics of transport because I have a CCW App on my iPhone that briefs me.
My primary consideration, however, is being able to transport in a fashion of my own choosing. One that doesn’t make that weapon in the trunk useless should it be needed.
