"One has to wonder if all these candidates gave the okay to be on this public list."General Rule of Thumb: Unless you got skeletons on your skeletons, as a Judge, you don't say no to SCOTUS.
Judges are vain as the day is long. This is an honor.

How in the world does Cruz get injected into this discussion? Some folks exhibit a severe case of "Cruz Derangement Syndrome". They cannot pass up an opportunity to bash Sen. Cruz; like John Boehner, they consider him to be "Lucifer in the flesh".

Yeah they do. Hillary said Obama for scotus. Tell me how Trump could do worse. LoL.
I keep on hearing from the #NeverTrump crowd that he would pick his sister. Clowns. ;-)
To: TontoKowalski
I'm glad Trump keeps his promises. The never trumpers will ignore it of course but they're a rapidly shrinking group.

Yea, state high court judge that are non-Harvard/Yale/NYU New England elites. Its a brilliant move. Shows that Trump and his people plan on bringing some middle American to the Court.
...
I like it. Up to now the general pattern is Republicans pick Catholics and the Dems pick Jews from the federal courts.

Lee, the brother of Utah Sen. Mike Lee, serves as the Utah Supreme Court Associate Chief Justice. He was appointed to the Utah Supreme Court by Gov. Gary Herbert in July 2010. The University of Chicago graduate clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

Why should their “okay” be required?
To: ObozoMustGo2012; Ouderkirk
You’re both off.
Judges from the Ivy League and from beyond the Ivy League should both be considered, based on record and merit.

Why should their okay be required? I agree. Trump is not assuming, nor asking for, their endorsement. Or support. Or even their vote.
He's saying that he admires their judicial philosophy, and he thinks they'd make a good Supreme Court Justice. So much so that he's listing them as possible picks.

“Id think any jurist would be pleased to be on a list of potential nominees to the US Supreme Court.”
Even if it’s a fake list? Looks like he just went through
the list of State justices and picked the ones that seemed
to lean right. The pander list to shore up states that he
is weak in. Who am I kidding? He’s the great all knowing,
all seeing, all mighty beyond all criticism Trump.

Unfortunately, it’s not just those two. Too many here forget JR’S admonition that we all need to work together, and get our knowledge out to the Great Unwashed.
