Report: Romney recruiting Kasich, Sasse for third-party option

Mitt Romney, the GOP’s 2012 nominee, is among those courting prospects for a possible third-party bid to keep Donald Trump from the White House, according to a Washington Post report .

Among those prospects are Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.), one of Trump’s most vocal Republican critics, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who suspended his presidential campaign in early May.

Kasich’s chief strategist John Weaver said the governor isn’t interested in running an an independent.

A Sasse spokesman declined to comment.

But it’s not looking to good for a late in the game third-party bid, according to the report.

Deadlines have passed to get on the ballot in big states like Texas, though organizers argue a legal challenge there would be successful.

Romney is a NWO globalist like Hillary. this sounds like Bilderberger stuff..the fact he is trying so hard to get Hillary elected.

The clintons could easily get hindered of millions to his campaign since that would assure her victory

Mitt is trying to do to Trump as Reid did to Mitt on the question of taxes. Seems slimy on Mitt’s part. STOP IT! Mitt should find a job he would be good at...like maybe a used BMW salesman.

Romney can just campaign for Clinton in Utah, and he can finance it himself.

Just one person’s opinion:

https://www.quora.com/

What will happen to the conservative electorate if the establishment Republicans broker the convention for Mitt Romney in 2016?

If the Republican delegates awarded the nomination to someone like Romney, someone who hasn’t even campaigned, who no Republican voters have voted for this year, and who lost badly the last time he ran, he would have absolutely no legitimacy in the eyes of Republican voters. Trump’s appeal is that his supporters imagine he’s genuine; nobody, they think, would say such horrible and offensive things just to ingratiate himself, so he must really mean them. In contrast, Romney is the single most transparently phony politician to run for president in living memory. No Trump voter would support him. Trump would start his own party, probably called the “American Greatness Party,” recruit his own electors, and gather enough ballot signature petitions to be placed on the ballot in all fifty states. He might or might not beat Hillary Clinton, but he would beat Romney literally ten to one; Romney would lose every single state except Utah, and the national Republican Party would be shunted into irrelevance.

The Republican leaders know this, and that’s why they won’t do it. Trump’s appeal is entirely independent of the Republican party, he knows it, and the Republicans know it. If there is a brokered convention, Trump has the brokers over a barrel. Either they nominate him, or he picks up his toys and goes home with half the conservative base, splitting the vote and guaranteeing a Clinton victory.

And they think even less of him right now trying to interfere with what support has within the Republican party...

IMHO: Mitt is a phony, his is as evil as the ‘establishment’ people are...he keeps this up, The American Voters are going to get very mean and nasty with Mitt...he won’t like it!!!

Mittens wants the Wicked Witch to win, because he lost.

That's the only explanation that makes sense. If he couldn't beat an unpopular president who was governing against the will of the American People as his party's nominee, how the hell can he hope to win as an independent candidate? If he throws his hat into the ring, he will have no party structure to support him and no funds, and it will probably be too late for him to get on the ballot in many states.

His (Romney's) loss in 2012 was intentional.

It's tough to doubt it. Some of the potential Republican candidates were not part of the global elite. Romney was sent to defeat them by any means possible, to keep Obama in office in order to promote their globalist agenda. They were grooming the likes of Cruz and Jeb for 2016.

How else can Romney's fierce attack on Republicans throughout the primaries then refusing to go after Obama about Benghazi or to campaign to the "lower 47%" make any sense? Now he irrationally and viciously attacks the nominee-to-be because Trump doesn't bow to them?

It isn't just a crazy conspiracy theory hypothesis anymore. Romney, the Bushes, and their lapdogs (that includes Cruz, the way it came down) have given us all the evidence we need.

During the Obama/Romney debates Romney looked like he was in some kind of love-crush thing with Obama... Romney wouldn't even bring up Benghazi.

And he smiled too much.

Maybe the reason Candy Crowley stepped in to help Obama was because she was getting jealous... who knows? But either way it's a surprise to see Romney has a backbone. He should go for it. Get his friends together and form is own party... The Country Club CHEAP LABOR EXPRESS party... I'm sure they'll get lots of votes.../s

“Romney is evil. Won’t attack the DNC, just other GOP. His lose in 2012 was intentional.”

If he is truly doing this, his actions lend credibility to your assertions. He didn’t even run for the Presidency this time around. Why should he have any input at this point in the game. They have admitted, and realize that Trump can win, and something about winning is unacceptable to them. Maybe it’s just the issue of losing control of the Republican party, but how does running third party change that? On the other hand, maybe you’re correct.

Romney should just slit his own throat and put himself out of our misery. He’s worse than a dem by working against the nominee the people wanted. He’s worse than a liberal marxist socialist communist dem with dhimmitude.

Romney had backbone. He used it against Gingrich, Ron Paul, Herman Cain and Santorum.

He discussion of benghazi was weak and uninspiring. Probably by design.
