Mitt Romney, the GOP’s 2012 nominee, is among those courting prospects for a possible third-party bid to keep Donald Trump from the White House, according to a Washington Post report .

Among those prospects are Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.), one of Trump’s most vocal Republican critics, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who suspended his presidential campaign in early May.

Kasich’s chief strategist John Weaver said the governor isn’t interested in running an an independent.

A Sasse spokesman declined to comment.

But it’s not looking to good for a late in the game third-party bid, according to the report.

Deadlines have passed to get on the ballot in big states like Texas, though organizers argue a legal challenge there would be successful.

Although we caught a bullet anyways, I feel strongly that we dodged a bullet with Mitt (R)Money’s loss.

Romney had Trump campaign with him during the GOP nomination in 2012, and now this the thanks he gets. No good deed goes unpunished.

Mittens proved homself to be a total bozo the way he handled the tax thing. He should have turned it around against Obola by saying he’d release his tax returns only if Obbola would release all of his sealed records and kept pounding on it.

Yeah if the GOP candidate’s last name is Bush, Fiorina or Rubio we wouldn’t be hearing anything from him. If the names is Rand Paul, Ron Paul, Herman Cain, Trump, or Huckabee he will come out with daggers on and claim you are more dangerous to the country than the DNC candidate.

If he had fought Obama half as hard as he is Trump he would have been President. What a buffoon.

Romney left Bain in 2002. They were buying out his management stake over the next decade, but he may not have any connection with the firm now.

If you've eaten at Dunkin' Donuts or Burger King or Domino's or shopped at Staples, Brookstone, or Burlington Coat Factory some time in this century, then you may have done business with Bain.

So no, Mitt Romney doesn't have a real job now and has a lot of time on his hands. This whole thing sounds like a "Gang that Couldn't Shoot Straight" caper, more gossip, speculation, and hot air than anything else.

You nailed it. He had none of the vigor in opposing Obama as he has displayed against Trump. Since he is this pro Clinton he should switch parties.

Is there any doubt now by his pathetic actions he took a dive in 2012. Piss on him.

Romney wimped out in 2012 against Obozo. He refused to go for the jugular when he had the chance. I repent I ever gave him a single penny.

Romney’s actions make no sense at all. Something weird is going on. This guy is basically on a suicide mission and has completely destroyed his legacy. IN 2015, he was the elder statesman, and seemed well respected across all ideological flavors of the GOP. Now it’s gone forever. And for what? Simply bizarre.

But it’s not looking “to” good? Never ceases to amaze me the uneducated ignorance of so called journalists and their lack of writing capabilities these days. Getting worse all the time.

Romney, working FOR Obama in 2008

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers…
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide…
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
… aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.

"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off ….hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

There is a reason the polygamous Mexican carpetbagger has to flee from state to state.

Also under the Bishop RAT Romney bus:

"National Guard Lt. Anthony Circosta poses in his backyard in Agawam, Mass., on June 9, 2007.
At left, his wife Danielle and daughter Kylie, 2, talk near the swing set. Circosta,
a decorated Iraq War veteran, seemed like an ideal candidate for a pardon from
then-Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for the 29-year-old's boyhood conviction
for a BB gun shooting. Romney denied the pardon,
twice, despite the recommendation of the Governor's Council.

What would be the basis of the challenge that they're so sure it would be successful?

Why have deadlines if people think they don't apply to them? Do the states have any control over their own election rules?

Yeah. I am very well aware of the scum McCain staffers (Wallace, Schmidt, etc) and the Romney oppo teams efforts to take down Palin ahead of 2012 (I still remember her driving her bus in NH right by a Romney “listening” event).

But what is the deal with this suicide mission of his? He’s going to go down in history now as a nasty political hit man - a turncoat, like his dad who bet wrong on the Reagan Revolution.
